This spring, Mike and Shannon were married in the BIDMC Cardiac ICU—just one day before Mike received a new heart. In a celebration organized by some of our incredible nurses, it was a moment that reminded us of what we’re working for: more time, more love, more life. Next week marks the second anniversary of the Beth Israel Lahey Health Heart Transplant Program. We’re deeply grateful to the patients and families who place their trust in us, as well as the donors who make new beginnings possible. Here’s to hope restored, vows exchanged, and the future ahead. ❤️

Leg pain might seem like a normal part of aging — but it could be a sign of something more serious. Peripheral artery disease (PAD) affects millions of Americans, yet it often goes undiagnosed. At BIDMC, our vascular experts are raising awareness about this common — and potentially dangerous — condition. “A blockage in the leg can be as dangerous as a blockage in the heart,” says Brett Carroll, MD Director of Vascular Medicine at BIDMC. Left untreated, PAD increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and even limb loss. 🩺The good news? With early diagnosis, PAD is treatable, often through lifestyle changes like walking therapy or minimally invasive procedures. 📖 Learn how to recognize the warning signs and take steps to protect your health: https://lnkd.in/ehr2UcbK #PeripheralArteryDisease #HeartHealth #VascularMedicine #PreventiveCare #PatientEducation #KnowTheSigns

As a physician, David was used to helping others. But when his own blood pressure spiraled out of control, he felt powerless. Despite medication, a healthy lifestyle, and no major risk factors, David's hypertension became resistant to treatment — putting him at serious risk for heart disease and stroke. “I felt like I was going to explode,” he said. That’s when he turned to the Complex Hypertension Clinic at BIDMC, where a dedicated team took a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to his care — and introduced him to a promising new option: renal denervation (RDN), a minimally invasive procedure designed for patients like David. Today, David is back to living fully — practicing medicine, celebrating with family, and feeling in control of his health for the first time in years. 💙 Read his powerful story and learn how BIDMC is helping patients with treatment-resistant hypertension take back their lives: https://lnkd.in/eGFeEeh3 #HeartHealth #HypertensionAwareness #RenalDenervation #InnovationInCare
