Intentional hospitality, rooted in Charleston.

About us

Founded in 2021, BHC is a Charleston, SC-based luxury urban resort destination whose sole purpose is to create meaningful ways for people to connect and share extraordinary experiences. With a focus on generational ownership and longstanding partnerships, BHC is building a portfolio of interconnected hospitality and entertainment experiences designed to stimulate the senses and enrich lives. The collection originated with the acquisition of BHC’s flagship property The Charleston Place, a landmark in the heart of historic downtown Charleston, and has continued to grow with the development of The Cooper, downtown Charleston’s only luxury waterfront hotel, opening in 2025; Sorelle, a multi-level Italian restaurant concept; The Riviera Theater, a revitalized iconic entertainment venue; and Credit One Stadium, a world-class venue for sports and entertainment.

Senior Manager, Social Media at BHC

Just wrapped Social Media Week, and it was equal parts inspiration and reset—a chance to step back, listen, and reflect on where content is heading and how that connects to the work I’m doing at BHC. Some ideas I’m taking with me: 🤳 The best content doesn’t feel like content. It feels like presence: voiceovers, POV storytelling, walk-throughs that let people feel the space. That realness is what’s cutting through. 🌀 Rituals build stronger brands than trends. Several sessions touched on the power of recurring, emotionally rooted content—the kind that builds rhythm and connection over time. 🤖 AI can help us move faster, but it can’t replace the creative POV. Lots of teams are using AI to ideate and scale, but the strongest work is still anchored in human insight. That distinction feels important as we explore how to use these tools more intentionally. 💻  Every platform is its own world. We can’t (and shouldn’t) show up the same way everywhere; the tone and texture need to be tailored. Hearing how other teams are navigating this helped reframe how we prioritize voice and pacing. There’s always more to figure out, but I left feeling energized about where we’re headed. The conversations this week were a good reminder that thoughtful, story-first content isn’t just nice to have—it’s where everything is moving! #SocialMediaWeek #AdWeek

There’s something special about the moment the Spoleto Festival USA poster is revealed. For the past three years, we’ve been honored to host that moment at The Charleston Place—a gathering that marks the beginning of Charleston’s most anticipated cultural tradition. This week’s unveiling brought together artists, partners, and community members to celebrate the season ahead, and to unveil the 2025 poster featuring Professional Painter in a Dream (2025) by Cheyenne Julien, the striking artwork that sets the tone for Spoleto’s 49th year. As General Director Mena Mark Hanna reminded us during the event, “The arts bring joy, a sense of wonder, and delight to this city.” We couldn’t agree more. As longtime supporters of Spoleto Festival USA, we’re proud to help foster moments like these—where art, hospitality, and community come together. And now, as the 2025 season begins, we couldn’t be more excited for what this year's festival will bring: transformative performances, global talent, and the kind of creative energy that makes Charleston shine. Let the celebration begin!

Intentional leadership, in practice. This week, The Cooper’s executive team stepped away from the day-to-day for a sun-soaked retreat in Isle of Palms. A three-mile ruck. A guided ice bath led by our friends at Synchronicity. Designed to challenge the body, clear the mind, and create space for strategic thinking and team connection. As this team prepares to open downtown Charleston’s first luxury waterfront hotel, the retreat offered an opportunity to align on priorities, strengthen relationships, and lead forward with focus and trust. Leadership is both a mindset and a practice—and exceptional hospitality starts with a team that’s truly in sync.

Last Friday morning, our president Casey Lavin shared a powerful article with the team — “Hospitality Begins at Home” by Simon Harris. As we move through an exciting period of rapid growth at BHC, Casey reminded us of something essential: The level of hospitality we extend to our guests will never exceed the hospitality we offer each other. This article is a powerful reflection on what truly sustains great hospitality organizations over time. It’s not just about standards, systems, or service training. It’s the culture we build behind the scenes, in everyday moments of trust, respect, and care. At BHC, we know that lasting guest experiences start long before anyone checks in. They begin with how we show up for one another — with generosity, with heart, and with a shared commitment to building something greater than ourselves. It’s a powerful read, and a timely reminder as we head into a new week. https://lnkd.in/eftzxexD

Condé Nast Traveler's 2025 Hot List landed this week—and as always, it’s filled with beautiful places and thoughtful design. But what stood out most to us were the shared values: joy as a throughline, locality as luxury, and hospitality that lingers. At BHC, we’re guided by a clear point of view: hospitality should feel grounded, generous, and deeply connected to its surroundings. We see it every day in Charleston. Here, charm isn’t manufactured. It’s inherited, nurtured, and expressed with care. And we’re proud to carry that spirit forward in everything we do, from our reimagination of The Charleston Place to what’s just ahead with the debut of The Cooper, downtown’s first luxury waterfront hotel. We’re building with intention. Designing for connection. And shaping spaces that reflect not just where we are, but who we’re here for. This past weekend, The Charleston Place came alive with springtime joy and Easter magic. From our beloved Bunny Drive through downtown Charleston to sun-soaked moments in Market Street Circle, we were honored to welcome so many families back to celebrate one of our favorite traditions. Thoughtfully planned and joyfully executed, the weekend was a true reflection of our commitment to creating meaningful moments for our guests, for our community, and for every little one who believes in the magic of the season. Thank you to everyone who made it so special. We’re already counting down to next year! #ThePlacetoCelebrate #ThePlaceToCharleston

During the 2025 Credit One Charleston Open, BHC introduced The Greenhouse—a new kind of gathering space on the tournament grounds. Open from the first serve each day until the final match wrapped, The Greenhouse offered guests a moment to pause and take in the tournament from a different perspective. Culinary offerings included a preview of The Cooper through mezze and gyros inspired by its upcoming concepts, blue crab salad and Guinness-braised beef sliders from The Charleston Place, handmade pasta and prosciutto with focaccia from Sorelle, and nostalgic treats—tennis ball macarons, doughnuts, popcorn—representing The Riviera Theater and upcoming American Gardens. Each afternoon brought gelato hour from 2–4 PM, and throughout the week, guests enjoyed the Spike’d Stunner—BHC’s signature tournament cocktail—served exclusively at The Greenhouse, Market Street Circle, and Sorelle, alongside the beloved First Serve. The space itself was layered with intention. Outfitted with patio seating, a full-service bar, air conditioning (!), soft seating, and flora-inspired touches throughout, The Greenhouse was designed to offer comfort, conversation, and a chance to linger between sets. Brought to life in partnership with TTS Studios , Swell Botanics, Beachview Event Rentals & Design, and Oak View Group, it reflected BHC’s ongoing approach to hospitality: creating thoughtful, immersive environments that live within the moment. Thank you to our partners—and to every guest who made The Greenhouse by BHC part of their tournament experience. We’re already looking ahead—and can’t wait to share what’s in the works for next year.

An evening where culinary craft met the spirit of the game. To mark the return of the 2025 Credit One Charleston Open, we were proud to help bring Taste of Tennis to Charleston for the very first time—hosting a collaborative, chef-driven event at The Charleston Place that felt every bit like us: welcoming, intentional, and rooted in shared experience. Set in Market Street Circle, the night brought together chefs Nick Dugan (Sorelle), Gabriel Haaz del Campo (The Charleston Place), and Suzy Castelloe (Charleston Grill) with WTA standouts Madison Keys, Emma Navarro, Shelby Rogers, and Ali Riske-Amritraj. Each pairing took the stage for live culinary demos, blending skill and spontaneity in a way that mirrored the energy of the tournament itself. Guests sipped signature cocktails, swapped stories, and gathered around plates designed to showcase creativity and connection. And just when the night seemed to wind down, a surprise pickleball match lit up the court—closing the evening on a playful note. While Taste of Tennis has long made stops in New York, Miami, and Indian Wells, its Charleston debut carried a distinct tone—shaped by our city, our chefs, and the team across BHC who brought it to life. Grateful to our partners at Taste of Tennis and to everyone who made this night one to remember.

During this year’s Credit One Charleston Open, BHC welcomes Taste of Tennis to Charleston for the first time—an exclusive culinary experience where world-class tennis meets exceptional hospitality. Later this month, The Charleston Place will host this invite-only event, featuring live entertainment, WTA ambassadors, and a specially curated menu from some of BHC’s most celebrated chefs: Sorelle's’ Executive Chef Nick Dugan, Executive Chef Gabriel Haaz of The Charleston Place, and Charleston Grill’s Chef de Cuisine Suzy Castelloe. While Taste of Tennis is a private event, all tournament attendees can experience BHC’s hospitality at The Greenhouse by BHC—an open-to-all dining destination on the tournament grounds, showcasing standout dishes from across our collection.
