Honored to be invited back to #BloombergScreentime in LA this past week—always one of the most thought-provoking gatherings in media and entertainment. The lines between gaming, entertainment, and innovation continue to blur, at unprecedented speed. Huge thanks to Lucas Shaw and the Bloomberg team for moderating incredibly candid conversations with industry titans including Netflix Co-CEO Greg Peters, Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison, music legend Irving Azoff, Angel City FC Owner Willow Bay, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, Proximity Media's Ryan Coogler, Jimmy Kimmel, Warner Music CEO Robert Kyncl, and Instagram's Adam Mosseri. Some themes that kept emerging across conversations: 🛡️ IP Protection is Non-Negotiable – Every leader emphasized the need to fiercely protect their intellectual property in the age of AI 💡 AI as Value Creator – AI will reduce operational costs AND unlock new monetization opportunities for existing IP 🎮 Gaming & Interactivity are Core, Not Optional – Platforms are doubling down on interactive experiences to keep audiences engaged (Netflix announced social-party games on TV) 🎬 Creator Economy = Real Competition and Opportunity for Growth – The traditional studios are taking creators seriously as formidable competitors for attention and dollars 📱 Seamless, Screen-Agnostic Experiences – Technology and innovation are essential to give audiences frictionless access to content across ANY screen, anywhere 🤝 M&A is Far From Over – David Ellison sees significant consolidation opportunities ahead, even though he won't discuss them 😉 Who else was there? Would love to hear your takeaways. #BloombergScreentime #Entertainment #Gaming #Innovation #AI #CreatorEconomy #Streaming #MediaIndustry Netflix Paramount Skydance Twitch Instagram WarnerMusic Proximity Media Angel City Football Club Virginia “Ginny” G. Last week I attended Bloomberg's third annual Screentime event here in Hollywood. 📸 The gathering brings together leaders in entertainment and culture to discuss the current state of play and what's ahead in these industries. 🔍 Overall, there was a feeling of immense disruption and the need to constantly adapt or be left behind. 🏃♀️➡️ Greg Peters, the co-chief executive officer of Netflix, summed it up nicely: “This is the most competitive entertainment environment that has ever existed on the planet in the history of humankind, and it’s getting more and more competitive...f you don’t maintain a sense that you are constantly vulnerable, I think you will lose.” 😵💫 As a comms pro and storyteller, I particularly enjoyed hearing Ryan Coogler and Sev Ohanian's session on the business of bold storytelling. They hit points about speaking directly to your audience and choosing subject matter that moves people. Ryan and Sev - if your promising careers in movies don't work out, we'd love to have ya at Steel Comms 🤣 Some other highlights: 💡 Paramount’s new CEO sees a lot of opportunity for consolidation in entertainment. David Ellison wants to “speak to the 70% of the audience that identifies themselves as center-left and center-right” 💡The relationship between platform and player, as told by Twitch's CEO Daniel Clancy and their biggest Creator star, Imane "Pokimane” Anys 💡 Netflix is making its video games available to play on TVs for the first time. Co-CEO Greg Peters gave the company a B-minus grade on its video-game strategy up to this point 💡 Warner Bros. Discovery film chiefs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, who just signed new contracts, confirmed the studio will make a sequel to this year’s hit A Minecraft Movie 💡 Pretty soon you won’t be able to tell the difference between real and AI, Instagram’s Adam Mosseri said. He’s exploring building a dedicated TV app as part of a deeper push into video 💡 Jimmy Kimmel thought his late-night show was finished after it was temporarily suspended over his comments about Charlie Kirk: “A list of demands was presented to me, and I was not going to go along with any of them...And it’s like, well, I guess we’re done. I said to my wife, ‘That’s it. It’s over.’” 🗣️ As always, some of the best moments happened off‐stage in hallway chats and unplanned meet ups. At quality events like these, it’s not about shaking hands with 100 people - it’s about meeting the handful who actually move the needle for you. 🤝 Congrats to the reporting and events team who consistently handle these high-profile events and speakers with such style and grace - roll on next year! Every conversation at Bloomberg ScreenTime from platform execs to Ryan Coogler reinforced what drives me most: empowering creators to own their narratives, build community, and turn storytelling into real opportunity. A full circle moment was meeting YouTuber Kinigra Deon and realizing we’re both Alabama girls living out our dreams. (Of course, we had to snap a photo to send her partner manager Mic Kovary!) It was such a powerful reminder that the leaned-in community on YouTube is catapulting the careers of so many creators. When I asked what advice she’d give to small creators with limited resources her answer felt like a golden rule for everyone: “Just START now with the people who are around you.” Grateful to be part of a team at YouTube that’s constantly rewriting the industry playbook and inspired to keep building what’s next. #creatoreconomy #bloombergscreentime #youtube

Bloomberg really knows how to throw a conference. 👏😮💨 Day 1 of the Bloomberg Screentime event in Hollywood featured: - Robert Kyncl, CEO of Warner Music Group - Karen Bass, Office of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass - Greg Peters, Co-CEO of Netflix - Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Kimmel Live They talked about politics. They talked about natural disasters. They talked about Cardi B’s new album. They talked about gaming. They talked about tennis. They talked about sparing with the President. They even talked about Bill Gates. Best of all, not one panelist shied away from the tough questions. That’s what makes these conferences so valuable: authenticity and transparency. Shout out to Lucas Shaw and Sarah McGregor for being such great hosts and interviewers. And Arena Choi for the invite. 🫶👏🙌
