With open enrollment just around the corner, it’s important to understand how your plan works: - Your deductible depends on the plan you select. Typically, HMOs have a lower deductible, but you must use in-network providers for care. PPOs usually have a higher deductible, but you can see any provider you want. - Copays, a set amount you pay out-of-pocket for certain common health care services, like checkups or screenings, apply both before and after you’ve met your deductible. Copays help ensure preventive care is affordable. - Co-insurance kicks in after your deductible is met. It’s the percentage you pay for covered health care services. Insurance takes care of the rest. When the weather changed plans for outdoor projects at Camp Ponkapoag, 25 incredible volunteers pivoted without hesitation and began assembling hygiene kits for our Families in Transition program, writing notes to our Menino Y Weekly Senior Coffee Group and stuffing backpacks with cold-weather gear for kids in our Hub Schools. When the rain let up, the whole team rallied and worked together to repair the road leading into camp, and ready our picnic tables for the winter. Today marks Blue Cross Blue Shield's 15th year of volunteering with the Y at Camp Ponkapoag. Their commitment, flexibility, and continued partnership make a lasting difference for our Y community and for each and every child that has attended Camp Ponkapoag for over fifteen years.
