“We are an R&D lab for creativity!” Podcast Feature Alert! Our CEO Tom Gabbard joined Monica Holt on Capacity Interactive's CI to Eye podcast to talk about how innovation is shaping the future of the arts within Blumenthal Arts and primarily Blume Studios. At Blume Studios we start at YES, and Tom gives insight into connecting with audiences in fresh, meaningful ways while building new community. This conversation dives into how we’re reimagining what it means to create and share art, and why meeting people where they are is key to building lasting cultural impact. Tom’s work brings him all around the world and he shares how that benefits the city of Charlotte. This one is a must-listen!
We all want our brands to feel more rooted in community—but it takes more than messaging to make that real. On CI to Eye with Monica Holt, Tom Gabbard shares how Blumenthal Arts uses immersive experiences to demonstrate that commitment in action. Tune in to hear how Tom and his team are programming with community needs in mind and redefining what arts participation can look like. 🎧 Listen now → https://bit.ly/3VXwtcM

A full year of being Nimble, Scrappy, and Highly Creative! We are celebrating the One-Year Anniversary of Blume Studios by looking back at all the creative ways we’ve activated this space in the heart of Charlotte’s The Iron District. One visit here and you’ll experience the power of immersive arts experiences! The possibilities in this 32,000 square foot community space are truly endless. Already we’ve shared trips to outer space with Space Explorers: The Infinite and gone back in time to childhood with MONOPOLY LIFESIZED: Travel Edition. We’ve collaborated with many community partners, displayed the work of local artists, hosted game nights and dance parties, and (not to brag but) we have some of the most creative cocktails in town at our bar. As the Iron District, former home to the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company, continues to grow into the multi-use destination that connects Uptown Charlotte and the South End neighborhood, we are honored to be the first tenant and our city’s cultural catalyst. Year two of Blume Studios is going to be even bigger and we can’t wait to show you what’s next!

Kicking off your week with the first recap from our 2025 Upcycled Fashion Show. Where better to start than with the VIP Host and runway grand finale designer. Voted Charlotte's best fashion designer for Queen City Nerve in 2024, and SouthPark Magazine 2025 IT LIST, Returning designer and #ArtPopCLT class of 2023 Artist, Will White! When thinking of his piece constructed from 2024 billboard artist Joann McDaniel, Will was excited to keep the look fun and flirty to showcase the pure joy that McDaniel channels into the piece depicting a group of “women of a certain age” still having the time of their lives as friends. In turn, Will has kept in step with his avant-garde approach to fashion and leaned into a bit of skin with a two piece party look, modeled by Jashanta Brown. To up the drama, Will has added a sweeping shawl duster with accented bows to keep the piece young and energetic. Will feels that fashion should be fun, and if any of us are able to grab at least a fraction of the fun and unbridled joy depicted in McDaniel’s piece in this life, we should consider ourselves lucky to do so. A huge thank you to the estimated 10,000+ who came out to CLTure's Day + Night Market this weekend as part of the Charlotte International Arts Festival, a Blumenthal Arts Original - supporting a true community event, selling out food trucks and vendors, and giving local artists and performers a powerful platform to shine! This was also a milestone moment: the first time we’ve activated this new space in The Iron District, formerly home to the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company, just yards away from Blume Studios! We’re excited to see this historic site continue to come alive in new ways. Stay tuned!

The Immersive Immersive returns, and this time, it’s global. This October, AMS Planning & Research is partnering with HUB Montréal to host the Immersive Immersive—a convening of performing arts organizations, immersive producers, creators, and industry professionals dedicated to shaping the future of immersive art and entertainment. First launched in Denver in 2023, in collaboration with Blumenthal Arts and Off-Center at Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the gathering was designed to strengthen collaboration and establish a distribution network for immersive experiences. Now, in its international edition, the Immersive Immersive will expand that vision—bringing together voices across borders to explore opportunities, innovation, and the evolving landscape of live experiences.
