About us
BFCU was founded in 1947 in order to provide Boston Firefighters with top quality financial resources. Over 75 years later, our mission has not changed much other than expanding our membership eligibly to include police officers and municipal EMTs across the State of Massachusetts. First responders are a vital pillar to any community and we strive to build a strong financial future for all of our members because of the tireless lives of service they dedicate themselves to.

On the 3rd Thursday every year, credit unions around the world come together to celebrate our "people-first" philosophy that constantly impels us to do more in serving our members and their communities. This year's ICU Day theme of ‘Cooperation for a Prosperous World’ reminds us that we collectively have built a worldwide network that reaches more than 411 million members across the globe.
