Highlights from AeroDefCon 2025 Team BQP had a productive presence at AeroDefCon 2025, engaging with professionals and organizations contributing to the advancement of aerospace and defence technologies. Celebrating the Foundations of Quantum Innovation 2025 — The International Year of Quantum Science and Technology — continues to mark extraordinary milestones in our field. This year’s Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret, and John M. Martinis — pioneers whose pioneering work in superconducting circuits laid the foundation for modern quantum computing. Their research demonstrated that quantum mechanical effects such as tunnelling and quantized energy levels can be observed not only at the microscopic scale but also within engineered macroscopic systems — transforming how we design and understand computing itself. Classical methods—indirect, direct, and hybrid—struggle with nonlinear constraints, multiphase dynamics, and real-time scalability. Quantum-inspired optimization (QIO) offers a practical alternative by exploring larger search spaces, converging faster, and handling multiple constraints simultaneously.
