BSA Health System has launched a new ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) program, offering advanced support for patients with severe heart or lung failure. With this technology, BSA can now deliver the highest level of critical care right here in Amarillo, allowing patients and families to stay together during their most critical moments. “Building this program has been a true team effort,” said Marquis Whetstone, RN, ECMO coordinator at BSA Health System. “The multidisciplinary team of clinicians — including ICU nurses, physicians and leadership — who have poured their hearts into this is something I am incredibly proud of; not just the technology, but a team that is dedicated to saving lives and the hope that provides for our community.” To learn more about this major step forward for our community, please visit our website at: https://lnkd.in/gBvTfHMU

400 Procedures and Counting!👏 Congratulations to BSA’s interventional radiology (IR) team for completing their 400th Inari thrombectomy procedure — a minimally invasive medical intervention used to remove blood clots (thrombi) from blood vessels. This achievement places BSA among the top 3% of hospitals in the nation, No. 5 in Texas and No. 1 west of Dallas for the treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE). “I couldn’t be prouder of our interventional radiology team,” said Linsey Payne, diagnostic imaging director at BSA Hospital. “Their dedication and expertise continue to inspire, and their impact is undeniable. This milestone reflects their incredible commitment to saving lives.” Special thanks to Nilay Mehta, M.D., John Andrew, M.D., and the entire team for helping make BSA a leader in patient care and innovation.💙

As we step into Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re honored to share Amy’s story. "I never thought it would happen to me. But one mammogram changed everything." Amy had no symptoms — only her mammogram screening revealed her breast cancer. “If sharing my journey helps even one woman schedule her mammogram, then it’s worth it.” This October, let Amy’s story be a reminder: don’t wait — schedule your mammogram. Early detection saves lives. 💗 Read Amy's story at the following link https://ow.ly/2i1t50X5ByI

Meet Mika Arndt, a Pediatric ICU nurse at BSA whose compassion reaches far beyond the bedside. With the support of her family, she created the Hope Garden—a space of beauty and healing just outside the pediatric windows.🌸 “I am both a Pediatric ICU nurse and a gardener, and in many ways, those roles are the same—nurturing something in its most vulnerable state. My family and I created the Hope Garden here at BSA because we believe kindness and hope matter. So when you see a bundle of flowers in the hospital, I hope you stop for a moment and find hope in the blessings of your own life." Through her care for both people and plants, Mika reminds us how the simple beauty of a flower can bring light and joy, even on the hardest days. Thank you, Mika, for making BSA a Great Place for Patients! 💙

As NICU Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re honored to share the Clift family’s story. What began as a typical Saturday quickly became life-changing. At just 33 weeks and 3 days pregnant, Gladys knew something wasn’t right. After going to the hospital, she was admitted with the goal of reaching 34 weeks. At 34 weeks and 2 days, her son was delivered via C-section, and the NICU team stood ready. Her husband accompanied their baby boy to the NICU, and their journey began. We are honored to walk alongside families like the Clifts, providing care with love, compassion and hope. 💙 Read the full story at https://ow.ly/wCQY50X3NnF
