Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, launched a transformative Summer Dual Credit Program for Native high school students. Through courses in Navajo language and government, students earned college credit while exploring leadership, cultural identity, and academic rigor. For many, it was their first experience in a college environment — one designed to be supportive, empowering, and culturally grounded. The program also helps students meet scholarship requirements, such as those for the Chief Manuelito Scholarship, by providing access to courses not always available in high school settings. SIPI’s initiative reflects a deep commitment to access, identity, and student success. Read more: https://ow.ly/pN0050WN799
