Huge congratulations to Dr Léa Wenger and the team at Cyclana Bio (ex. Cycle Therapeutics) on their £5M seed round led by NFX and Eka Ventures. What a moment. Cyclana Bio is tackling one of medicine’s biggest blind spots: endometriosis. Their approach combines multi-scale data collection and 3D tissue modelling to reach a tissue-level understanding of how the disease develops. This is a breakthrough that could transform both women’s health and drug discovery itself. Endometriosis affects around 1 in 10 women worldwide, causing chronic pain and infertility - yet still takes on average 7–8 years to diagnose and remains critically underfunded. By harnessing menstrual fluid as a living dataset, Dr Léa Wenger and her team are creating first-in-class physiological assays that finally reflect the biology of the condition - building the scientific foundation needed for a cure. We’re celebrating your win at CFFN tonight - the future of women’s health is being built right here! 🔗 Read more about Cyclana Bio: https://lnkd.in/eR_8qpAg #WomensHealth #Endometriosis #Biotech #CambridgeInnovation #DrugDiscovery #CFFN #FemaleFounders
Proud and honoured to be able to announce our fundraise today! 🎉 💰 🔬 What started off as a desire to fix my own condition and a fascination for the unknown has turned into an incredible adventure with the best team! We have secured £5M in a funding round led by NFX and Eka Ventures, with the support of Cocoa 🍫, Wilbe and amazing angels. This investment will allow us to develop a tissue-level understanding of endometriosis and related diseases, using complementary multi-scale data collection and 3D tissue modelling. It will most importantly help advance our mission to accelerate the discovery of a cure for this debilitating condition, which affects one in ten women globally. From starting at Babraham Research Campus on their Accelerate program in May, to today, we've made such rapid progress that I can't wait to see the next chapter unfold. Thank you to the investors that believed in us, whether that was enough to commit to the round or not, you challenged us and made our company better for it. Thanks to my team and especially my co-founder Kevin Chalut for all of their hard work and especially thanks to my incredible husband Luke McCarron for supporting me no matter what (we filled our round the day before our wedding so some serious understanding displayed by him!). Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/edpxayBu Now it's up to us to build the change that we have been calling for so stay tuned for more updates soon! #WomensHealth #Endometriosis #CambridgeBiotech
