  • Technical Tip Tuesday - Sprint Goal (a.k.a. Sprint North Star) Our founder, Tiletha, has a question for the Product Owners out there that might get the conversation going! ********************************************************************************* When you write your sprint goal, is it written so that something functional is delivered at the end? I ask, because I have seen goals like, "Complete 10 user stories." or "Start work on the Andromeda Project." Yes, these are goals for sure; however, these are not sprint goals that align the team on what is supposed to be delivered at the end of your hard work. A strong sprint goal might be, "The next button progresses to the next page." The Product Owner is stating the goal, and together with the team, they steer towards that. It is what keeps the team on track, should distractions inevitably arrive. In short... Sprint Goal = Sprint North Star. Keep following the goal to deliver for the customer!! Product Owners, talk to me about that Sprint Goal. I would love to hear your voice. #productowner #sprintgoal #agile #agilecoaching #scrumwithsoul #newwaysofthinking #continuousimprovement #coaching #customer #delivery #scrum #team

  • Acceptance Criteria & Definition of Done - The Difference Scrum.org reports there are over 1,132,000 professional scrum certified people out there and the number continues to grow. I am sure some of those people may find it difficult to understand what Acceptance Criteria and the Definition of Done are. More importantly, what the difference is between the two. Here. Let me help. Acceptance Criteria = conditions that the specific work item must meet. E.g., my website pulls up in 3 seconds. Definition of Done = checklist items that all work items must meet to ensure processes were followed in order to complete the work item. E.g., work item must have a test case attached. Acceptance criteria conditions apply only to the specific work item. Definition of Done, checklist items, apply to all work items. When both artifacts are met, then the work item is considered Done! Hope this helps. #acceptancecriteria #definitionofdone #agile #coaching #scrummaster #productowner #scrum #agilemindset #newwaysofthinking #scrumwithsoul #devteam #SAFe

  • Archetypes of a Scrum Master You may hear some say, "A Scrum Master must wear different hats depending on the situation." At Cannon Velocity, we feel a bit more passion about Scrum than that. We say, "A Scrum Master embodies different archetypes becoming whatever is needed according to the situation." Scrum.org sited Barry Overeem's 2017 whitepaper, "The 8 Stances of a Scrum Master " where he writes Servant Leader, Facilitator, Coach, Manager, Mentor, Teacher, Impediment Remover or Change Agent as soft skills called "stances". Over the years it has been eye opening learning what others think about Scrum Masters, and it is with his research that we started to focus on these 8 as "superpowers" we can call upon when certain events need certain responses. Here are a few insights. Why wear a different hat when you can become a whole different energy? #scrum #scrummaster #facilitator #servantleader #coach #growthmindset #superpower #SAFe #archetypes
