In the coffee forests of Ethiopia’s Oromia region, groups of women gather regularly through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) to pool their savings, plan their futures, and exchange ideas. These groups have become trusted spaces to discuss not only financial security, but also sustainable farming techniques, forest stewardship, and family planning. When reproductive health services are integrated with sustainable livelihood and conservation efforts, communities experience improved health, greater economic stability, and stronger environmental stewardship. We are deeply saddened by the news of the killing of two staff members of Juzoor for Health and Social Development , Ahmed Khilla and Yahya Shihab, along with their families, in airstrikes on Jabalia camp last week. They join at least 430 aid workers who have been killed since October 7, 2023. They were heroically serving their communities despite the many grave dangers they faced for more than 19 months, including relentless bombing, displacement, destruction and starvation. #Gaza

🍃 This #InternationalTeaDay, we’re raising our cups to Dạng, a visionary tea maker from the northern mountains of Vietnam who refused to let poverty or doubt define her. With support from a CARE savings group, she turned her village’s ancient Shan tea into a thriving business, creating jobs, income, and pride for her community. Now, her brand Thượng Trà isn’t just about tea. It’s about identity, strength, and women rewriting what’s possible. 💪✨

Grateful to Nick Kristof for shining this light on the longtime suffering of the Yemeni people and the harsh impacts of funding cuts on starving children like Maryam. Since 1992, CARE and partners have provided healthcare, food, water, other aid across #Yemen. Our amazing teams continue to do all they can, but humanitarian resources are beyond stretched and there are hundreds of thousands of children like Maryam who need support.

With training, tools, and determination, she built a new life, even through conflict. Now, she's earning an income, feeding her children, and empowering other women in her community to do the same 🧡 This is what resilience looks like. This is what women can do, with just a little support.

💸 Pads, tampons, and menstrual cups aren’t luxury items, but they’re taxed like they are. It’s called the pink tax: when everyday essentials marketed to women, including menstrual products, cost more simply because of who they’re for. And for too many, that cost is a barrier to health, dignity, and opportunity. No one should have to choose between food and menstrual products. No one should pay more for necessities because of outdated social norms and stigma. 🩸 This #MenstrualHealthAwarenessMonth, we’re saying enough. Period.
