The Southeast Treatment Plant Headworks Facility in San Francisco has been honored with a Water Environment Federation Project Excellence Award, recognizing its innovative design, sustainability, and community impact. Led by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission with Carollo Engineers as lead designer and the Sundt Construction - The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western Joint Venture as construction manager and general contractor, the $717 million project modernized the city’s largest wastewater facility while keeping it fully operational. The result is a resilient, energy-efficient system that improves treatment performance, reduces odors, and enhances the surrounding Bayview neighborhood.
