Thanks, Providence for highlighting this important work.
🕊️ We believe whole-person care includes the spirit. We’re inspired by the The Catholic Health Association of the United States' new initiative to help ministries strengthen and evolve spiritual care across the continuum of health. As the role of chaplains expands beyond the bedside—to clinics, virtual care and caregiver support—this work is essential to sustaining the heart of our Mission. "We need to make sure all our patients — and especially those who are poor and vulnerable — get the spiritual care interventions they need to flourish," says Theresa Vithayathil Edmonson, vice president of spiritual health at Providence and member of CHA's Spiritual/Pastoral Care Advisory Council. We’re proud to join others across Catholic health care in advancing spiritual care as a core part of healing. Together, we’re ensuring that compassion, presence and hope, remain at the center of every patient and caregiver experience. CHRISTUS Santa Rosa is working with the city of San Antonio to develop a cohesive way to meet the needs of the 3,000 homeless in the area. To streamline and bring together the community response to homelessness, city outreach has introduced new initiatives to map and locate individuals experiencing homelessness, document them, and ensure they receive the care and resources they need. The outreach connects people with health needs with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa, where patients are assessed and provided treatment. After their discharge, CHRISTUS helps patients navigate follow-up care and additional resources. Rural Americans already face higher health insurance premiums than their urban counterparts. Without an extension of the Health Care Tax Credits, those premiums could rise even further—making essential care unaffordable and out of reach for millions. We urge Congress to act swiftly and extend these critical tax credits. The health and well-being of rural communities depend on it. #CatholicHealth #KeepUSCovered

In a new article from America Magazine, Sr. Mary Haddad, RSM, president and CEO of the Catholic Health Association, speaks out about the shutdown and its risks to health care access. “The gridlock in Washington is reflective of a government that is not responding to the needs of the people.” “Care for all is not just the moral call of Catholic health care institutions; it is also smarter social policy.” Catholic health systems care for the most vulnerable. A shutdown or policy inaction only deepens the strain. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eYNVv9jC #Catholichealth

Spreading a message of hope, resilience, and faith, the new movie Soul on Fire reflects the importance of purpose in Catholic health care. The movie, based on the book 'On Fire' by John O'Leary, features scenes with a young John receiving care for the extreme burns to 100% of his body at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. These scenes highlight the importance of those dedicated to personal care, such as those represented in the film, who aided John during his five-month stay. Read more on the representation of Catholic health care in the new movie, releasing October 10th, at https://hubs.li/Q03Mxpkw0 #CatholicHealth #SoulonFire

More than 60 million Americans reside in rural areas across the country, which can make accessing health care a challenge. Catholic hospital systems are working to bridge the gap between urban and rural access to providers through new telehealth applications, creative staff recruitment initiatives, and organizational models. By bringing care to the patient, rather than bringing the patient to their care, systems aim to reduce the staggering disparity in health outcomes between rural and urban areas. Read more about the initiative reaching out to rural areas in the link in the comments. #CatholicHealth #RuralCare
