Modernizing America's radar infrastructure isn’t just a strategic upgrade—it’s a decision that makes economic sense. Our CSO, Will Hurd, argues in his recent op-ed in Defense Opinion that it’s time to modernize both defense and national infrastructure with solutions that deliver more capability at less cost. As Will explains, the right investments mean better security and real taxpayer value. For example, the FAA recently spent $885 million updating legacy systems. But with distributed digital radar networks, the same modernization could have cost nearly 90% less. That’s close to three-quarters of a billion in taxpayer savings. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy has called for a smarter, more resilient plan for air traffic control. The answer: replace outdated hardware with multiple lower-cost sensors, networked together for advanced coverage. These same digital radars not only shield us from emerging threats, but they also enable rapid upgrades within the FAA’s network, solving civilian and defense challenges with a single investment. 🇺🇸📡💰 The U.S. House of Representatives has approved $10 million in development funding for a new radar system at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The investment will center on CHAOS Industries’ ASTRIA system, a mobile radar designed to track multiple objects for test and training missions. “Never has there been a more important time to be building in defense technology,” CHAOS Industries Co-Founders John T. and Dr. Bo Marr, PhD said in a joint statement.
