Our trauma services and neonatal transport teams were at the Minnesota EMS Medical Directors Conference in Duluth. We had a booth in the exhibit hall and Dr. Benjamin Best, pediatric neurosurgeon, delivered a presentation titled, "Approach to pediatric neurotrauma in the field – updates and case illustrations." We are the largest pediatric trauma center with pediatric surgeons and critical care experts in house 24/7. At 4 years old, Valerie was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma. In honor of the expert care she received at Children's Minnesota, Valerie's family hosted a fundraiser to support other patients facing cancer or a blood disorder. Just what the dog-tor ordered. A new treat has arrived at our Minneapolis Starz Café: Pup Chow for Kids! A huge thank you to our nutrition services leaders, Mary Smieja and Tim Larson, for whipping up this delicious and dog-tor-approved treat for families and staff to enjoy. "I've always loved making things that bring a little joy, and seeing the reaction to this new Pup Chow has been wonderful," says Mary. "It's a fun way to bring a little bit of Riggs and Ina's spirit into our café for all to enjoy.”
