  • Congrats to physical therapy patient Leonard Sneed on his 100th birthday! National Physical Therapy Month was extra special this time around as we celebrated Leonard’s milestone at our inpatient rehab facility. Leonard began therapy for his hip following a fall. It was his first time in physical therapy, and he’s already seeing tremendous progress. Today, he's grateful for the team that supported him throughout his recovery and plans to visit the Grand Canyon once fully healed. His advice to others considering physical therapy is simple: don’t slow down after 70 and keep pushing yourself to stay in shape. • Paul Johnson is a proud U.S. Army veteran who dedicated 24 years of service before joining our ministry as a financial analyst through the SkillBridge program. Drawn to our mission, culture, and faith-based roots, Paul saw an opportunity to continue his lifelong passion for serving others. Throughout his military career, Paul gained extensive experience in the multifaceted military healthcare system, working with organizations like DoD, DHA, and MEDCOM, and leading healthcare operations, readiness, and administrative teams. Those years of service helped shape his leadership, adaptability, and commitment to excellence. For Paul, the SkillBridge program made all the difference when transitioning out of the military, especially into retirement. The SkillBridge program bridged that gap, supporting the move into a civilian career. We’re proud to have leaders like Paul continue their mission of service through CHRISTUS Health. • Ivette became committed to her health after witnessing her mother's breast cancer journey at an early age. In her mid-20s, she began scheduling regular breast screenings, alternating between mammograms and MRIs. But in 2022, despite no symptoms, a biopsy confirmed she had estrogen-positive carcinoma — an aggressive grade 3 tumor. She was shocked, given that she had done genetic testing a few years prior and figured she was in the clear. Our care team moved quickly, and Ivette underwent a successful double mastectomy. Tests would later confirm the cancer hadn’t spread to her lymph nodes, and she began six months of preventative chemotherapy. Today, the morning show host is grateful for the team that supported her through treatment, describing them as incredibly professional. She encourages other women to stay proactive with regular check-ups and mammograms, emphasizing that early detection can save lives. • That’s a wrap on CowParade San Antonio! We’re closing the chapter on an unforgettable celebration of art, community and compassion, all in support of CHRISTUS Children’s. Over the past year, 75 cows painted by local artists have grazed around the city, helping educate our community about the importance of pediatric health care and the mission of CHRISTUS Children’s. The final herd was auctioned off during a live event on September 25, with the online auction closing tomorrow at 6 p.m. - your last chance to bid and support this incredible cause. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing sponsors, donors, artists and everyone who purchased a cow. Your generosity enables us to continue our mission of providing healing and hope to children from Texas, across the US and beyond. Browse the herd and place your bids now at https://lnkd.in/gVQHfDRK. From all of us at CHRISTUS Health, thank you for making CowParade San Antonio a moo-ving success!

  • Congratulations to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System on the opening and blessing of its Biplane Neuroangio Suite, the only technology of its kind on the west side of San Antonio. This advancement empowers our caregivers to deliver life-saving care to patients experiencing neurovascular emergencies such as strokes and aneurysms. Dr. Ryan Morton, Medical Director and Neurosurgeon, shared, “This machine allows us to see blood vessels in the brain in extraordinary detail and treat conditions with greater safety, speed, and precision than ever before.” As part of our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, we are proud to bring specialized, emergency neurosurgical care closer to home, saving lives when every second counts. https://lnkd.in/g85KVSWq

  • When Mary went in for her annual wellness visit, a routine mammogram quickly turned into a life-saving diagnostic test. She was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer and faced treatment with strength, courage, and the support of her family and coworkers. After surgery and chemotherapy, Mary returned to teaching, then, after retiring, began volunteering at CHRISTUS Health’s cancer center. Now she makes care packages and delivers milkshakes to patients walking the same path she once did. Her message is simple but powerful: “A mammogram is five minutes that can save your life.” Read Mary’s story and why she encourages every woman to stay on top of screenings at https://lnkd.in/ghCBws-9.
