Superheroes make their mark in Carlsbad! 🦸♂️🦸♀️ From Superman to Spiderman, more than 400 superheroes took on the City of Carlsbad’s Superhero Obstacle Race earlier this month at Alga Norte Community Park! 🦹♂️🦹♀️ Families suited up in their favorite capes and masks as parents and kids raced side by side through 20 action-packed obstacles designed to test their strength, speed, and courage. 🏢 From leaping over tall buildings and crawling through toxic tunnels to navigating inflatable mazes, tightropes and web crawlers, heroes of all ages showed off their superpowers across the 2-kilometer course. From start to finish, the event made for superhero-sized fun for all ages. 🎉 A special thanks to our staff and 75 volunteers whose behind-the-scenes heroics helped make the event a success! #ParksandRecreation #CarlsbadCommunity

Top notch service kudos to Senior Planner Jason Goff! 🏡 Jason recently worked with a local family to obtain permits to build a single-family home in the city. 💌 After the process, the family emailed us to praise Jason’s clear, consistent communication and patience. They said, “It takes empathy, imagination, and good listening skills to interact effectively with customers who have little experience with the process.” 👏 Jason, excellent job helping our community members through the permitting process and making them feel welcome in Carlsbad. #EmployeeSpotlight #TeamCarlsbad

👏 Huge shoutout to our Police, Fire and Public Works teams for hosting the community at the annual Public Safety Open House on Saturday! Hundreds of community members stopped by the Safety Training Center to watch live emergency response demos from Fire, SWAT and K-9 units plus explore emergency vehicles and some seriously cool heavy equipment. 🚒🐾🚚 Our team also staffed a wildfire mitigation booth and shared preparedness tips to help community members stay safe during emergencies. 🔥🌿 Kudos to all the departments that joined in — including Environmental Sustainability, Transportation and Utilities — for connecting with the community and showcasing the many ways we serve Carlsbad every day and 💙 how we strengthen the great partnership we have with our community! #CarlsbadCA #PublicSafety #TeamCarlsbad #LocalGovernment

🌊 A big thank you to our Environmental Sustainability staff for their amazing work during the annual Coastal Cleanup Day! The team ran two sites — Haymar Drive West and Quarry Creek Haymar Drive East — and, along with about 25 volunteers, removed nearly 4,000 pounds of trash and debris. They also tackled some invasive plants in the preserve. 🌱 Thank you to Hallie Thompson, Tim Murphy, Jamie Aldinez, Jacob Feil, Caitlin Hansen, and Lauren Ornelas from Environmental Sustainability for playing your part in protecting our waterways! 💚 I Love A Clean San Diego #CoastalCleanupDay #EnvironmentalStewardship #SustainableCarlsbad

💧 It’s Water Professionals Appreciation Week We’re celebrating our more than 60 utility workers who keep Carlsbad’s water safe, reliable and flowing every day — and night. Our team is on call 24/7, weekends and holidays, ready to respond quickly to any water or sewer issue. This year, we’re proud to share that the San Diego County Water Authority is recognizing two of our own: 👏 Michael Divine, Water Systems Operator III With the city for 19 years, Michael ensures Carlsbad’s water supply stays safe and reliable. He says his favorite part of the job is solving problems that arise each day. 👏 Anthony Rodriguez, Utility Worker III A six-year city veteran, Anthony handles water main repairs, valve maintenance and leak investigations. His advice for newcomers: “Keep on working on certifications and always keep an extra set of clothes in your truck, because you will get wet.” 💙 To Michael, Anthony, and our entire Water Utilities team — thank you for your hard work and dedication to our community. #WaterProfessionalsAppreciationWeek #Carlsbad #PublicWorks #ThankYou San Diego County Water Authority

🖼️The Cannon Art Gallery is now hosting an exhibit called Printed & Stitched through October, which features 58 original artworks and examines the storied overlap between printmaking and textiles. 📖 Recently, our Cultural Arts staff shared some of the kind comments from the community written in the gallery’s guestbook. These are some of our favorites: 🖊️ “Thank you for gracing us with this beautiful and profound exhibit.” 🖊️ "I am 10 years old, and I really enjoyed walking through the gallery and hanging my art up." 🖊️ “Loved your gallery! I have lived around the corner for 35 years, but finally took the time to enjoy the lovely gallery." 🖊️ “It is my first time at this library, and I feel very serene and at peace looking at these art pieces.” Thank you, #TeamCarlsbad, for continuing to host meaningful exhibits and programs for the community. 🎨 #TeamCarlsbad #CarlsbadCommunity #CannonArtGallery #CommunityArtExhibit

Shoutout to Cross Connection Technician George Crabbe and the entire Carlsbad Municipal Water District team for some recent praise that came from a local plumbing contractor! 📣 👷 The contractor works with CMWD when water district customers replace backflow assemblies, which protect the drinking water distribution system from contamination. George’s team inspects the work and enforces regulations to protect our water. 💧The contractor thanked George and CMWD for always being responsive and knowledgeable and called them a true asset to the community. 👏 Way to go, George and CMWD team, for your dedication to protecting public health and our vital water resources! #EmployeeSpotlight #TeamCarlsbad #CarlsbadWater #CMWD
