  • The Charlotte Area Transit System is always finding forgotten items on buses and railcars, including... Bicycles? On average, CATS collects 20 left-behind bikes each month. Riders have 30 days to reclaim their misplaced items before they legally become City of Charlotte property. But, what happens to the bikes that no one claims??? Enter Trips for Kids Charlotte — a local, bike-centric nonprofit. The partnership between Charlotte Recyclery and the City of Charlotte provides residents with more mobility options by ensuring that used bikes are donated to those who need them most.

  • On the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month, we wanted to talk about a special relationship that launched our city's global connections around the world. Almost 4,000 miles away, a white stoned city called Arequipa calls our Queen City its sister. Six decades of sisterhood have blossomed into a steadfast partnership of cultural exchange and the creation of five other global "siblings" across three continents. In our story, we explore Charlotte's first-ever sister city-Arequipa, Peru. Read now: cltgov.me/arequipa

Now Accepting Applications for the Transit Authority The City of Charlotte is currently accepting applications to fill 12 vacancies for the Transit Authority Board of Trustees, following the passage of the Projects for Advancing Vehicle-Infrastructure Enhancements (P.A.V.E.) Act. The legislation, signed into law by Governor Josh Stein on July 1, authorizes the creation of the Transit Authority to advance mobility, strengthen regional growth and improve the public transit system throughout Mecklenburg County. The creation of the authority is contingent upon voter approval of the one-cent sales tax referendum on the November 2025 ballot. If voters approve the referendum, the Transit Authority will be established to finance, provide, operate and maintain a safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally-sound transit system for the region. Learn more and apply at cltgov.me/transitauthority.
