New Mayors of Lafayette webpage launched The City of Lafayette is proud to announce the launch of a new webpage dedicated to honoring the mayors who have shaped Lafayette since its incorporation in 1889. This online resource features the names, photos, and years of service of past mayors, creating a comprehensive record of the individuals who have guided the community for more than 135 years. The new page offers residents, students, and history enthusiasts a valuable glimpse into the evolution of Lafayette’s leaders. By showcasing the City’s past leadership, this resource highlights that generations of mayors have played an essential role in responding to growth, shaping policies, and representing the community at pivotal moments in history. “This project preserves Lafayette’s story while reminding us of the importance of civic participation,” said current Lafayette Mayor JD Mangat. “As we look back at those who came before us, we also look ahead to the leaders who will guide us into the future.” The timing of this new webpage is especially meaningful as Lafayette approaches its upcoming City Council election in November. By reflecting on the City’s past leaders, residents are encouraged to consider how elected officials continue to impact the direction of the community and the importance of participating in local government. The City invites community members to explore the new webpage, learn more about Lafayette’s rich history, and connect past leadership to the City’s vibrant future at https://lnkd.in/g-kRWpft

It is with heavy hearts that we share our former City Administrator, Fritz Sprague, passed away last night, Oct. 14. Fritz served our community from February 2019 until his retirement in May 2023. During his tenure, he navigated through the COVID-19 pandemic and a devastating cyber-attack while still leading organizational change and accomplishing major projects like the Global Settlement Agreement between Erie, the Medtronic entitlement process, and significant open space procurements. Fritz's work continues to influence our organization and community today. We honor his enduring positive impact and celebrate his life.
