  • Shoutout to our Public Works team, who were recently recognized with a few different awards for their work on the Public Safety Center! They received: 🏆 American Public Works Association (APWA) Nevada Structures Project of the Year. (We beat out the City of Las Vegas Symphony Parking Garage!) 🏆 The AGC PINNACLE Award: The Associated General Contractor's (AGC) PINNACLE Awards program was established in 1999 by the Nevada Chapter AGC to honor the “Best of the Best” in Northern Nevada construction projects, recognizing construction leadership, excellence, and community spirit. Independent judges measure entries based on safety, craftsmanship, challenges met, client relations, innovation, and “green” building practices. Utah AGC assembles a panel of contractors and associates from their membership and members of their staff to judge the projects. 🏆 An Arbor Day award for the preservation of old trees at the Public Safety Center.

  • You've probably heard of Tax Increment Financing (or TIF), but what exactly is it, and how does it work? On the latest episode of "On The Agenda," Reno City Manager Jackie Bryant talks with Bryan McArdle, Revitalization Manager at the City of Reno, about a Tax Increment Financing Plan approved at the recent Reno City Council | Redevelopment Agency Board meeting and what that means for the Biggest Little City. We review a few approved agenda items as well, including a Maintenance and Operations Corp Yard in the North Valleys for quicker response times, a sewer capacity project, a grant acceptance from the Nevada Office of the Attorney General to provide services to victims of domestic violence, and other items. Read highlights at Reno.Gov/News We also look at what's on the agenda for the May 21 Reno City Council Meeting, including an update on community engagement efforts, a master plan amendment for the StoneGate Heinz Ranch, a final budget presentation for adoption, and other items! • We are excited to announce the launch of the "2025 Reno Community Survey" as a key part of our priority-setting process, and we want to hear from you! Your input is essential in guiding our decision-making. Your voice plays a vital role in shaping the future of our city and ensuring our planning aligns with what is most important to YOU. The survey will be open until April 30th, 2025, and should take about 10 – 15 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous. Questions range from government services and priorities to engagement and communications preferences. Why Your Input Matters: -Help identify what’s working well and where they can improve. -Share your priorities for services, infrastructure, housing, and community programs. -Ensure every voice is heard as they build the five-year strategic plan. Let's come together to make Reno even better! Please share this survey with your friends, family, neighbors, and community members so we can gather as many voices as possible. Your input is invaluable! #2025RenoCommunitySurvey Take the survey: Reno.Gov/CommunitySurvey
