TODAY – The City of Seattle announced $1.5 million in funding to bring electric heavy-duty trucks to Seattle⚡ The funding will go to Zeem Solutions, a business leader in electric vehicle charging depots for commercial fleets, to partner with local trucking companies to bring 12 new electric drayage trucks to Seattle. Diesel trucks contribute significantly to air pollution, worsening climate change and impacting communities along freight corridors in the Duwamish Valley 🏞️ “This is just the beginning: with more than 5,000 trucks serving our local ports, it will be critical to ensure that electrification efforts expand quickly — turning today’s pilot projects into a broader movement,” said Tracey Whitten, our Transportation Policy Manager. These partnerships are helping us ensure an equitable transition away from diesel trucks for drivers, particularly independent owner-operators, who are critical to our region’s supply chain and who bear disproportionate environmental and economic burdens 🚚 Read the full news release: https://lnkd.in/guJrXTsa Thank you to our other partners in this work — DUWAMISH RIVER COMMUNITY COALITION, Seattle Office of Economic Development, Western Washington Clean Cities & Communities, African Chamber of Commerce of the Pacific Northwest, and C40 Cities #ElectricVehicles #ElectricTrucks #TransportationElectrification #CityofSeattle #DuwamishValley
