The City of South Pasadena is proud to announce the promotion of Michael Smith to the rank of Police Corporal with the South Pasadena Police Department. With more than 13 years of dedicated service in law enforcement, including prior roles with the Cities of Duarte and City of Arcadia, Corporal Smith has consistently exemplified professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to community safety. Since joining the South Pasadena Police Department in 2016, he has served with distinction as a Patrol Officer and more recently as a Field Training Officer, where he has played a vital role in mentoring new recruits and upholding the department’s core values. In his new role as Police Corporal, Smith will take on expanded leadership responsibilities, supporting patrol operations and contributing to the continued growth and excellence of both his fellow officers and the department as a whole.

The City of South Pasadena is proud to announce the promotion of Fire Captain Dan Dunn to the position of Division Fire Chief! With over 20 years of dedicated service as a Firefighter Paramedic and 8 years of distinguished leadership as a Fire Captain, Chief Dunn has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to public safety, exceptional leadership, and unwavering dedication to the community. In his new role, Division Fire Chief Dan Dunn will serve in a shared command position with the City of San Marino, where he will lead Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Emergency Management operations across both cities. We extend our sincere thanks to Chief Dunn for his outstanding service as Captain, and we look forward to his continued leadership in this new capacity.

The City of South Pasadena is proud to announce the appointment of Julian Lee as its new Public Works Director! Julian brings extensive experience in municipal operations, having held key leadership roles in several Southern California cities. His past positions include City Manager and Public Works Director for the City of Lynwood, Director of Public Works for the City of Lawndale, Deputy Public Works Director for the City of South Pasadena, and Utilities and Project Manager for the City of Norwalk. With a strong foundation in public works, engineering, and utilities management, Julian is exceptionally well-prepared to lead South Pasadena’s Public Works Department. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Southern California. The City looks forward to Julian’s leadership in advancing and maintaining the infrastructure and public services that are vital to the South Pasadena community.
