The City of Vacaville - A beautiful place to live, a great place to work!

About us

Vacaville, California is located in northern Solano County, midway between San Francisco and Sacramento. The City's rich history has transformed the community from a small agricultural town into a thriving and progressive city; now a diverse population of 100,000 residents who pride themselves on a high level of community involvement. While the City’s population history and demographics show its rapid growth, Vacaville had maintained its small town charm. Affordable housing, quality schools, a wide array of youth activities, and numerous community events contribute to making Vacaville a family-oriented city. Residents of all ages participate in organized sports leagues year-round. There are also high quality recreation programs for all ages, and state-of-the-art public recreation facilities, including a community pool with water slides and a diving well, ball fields, and a skateboard park. Numerous community events throughout the year provide fun for the entire family, including the annual Fiesta Days and Fourth of July celebrations, concerts during the summer at the downtown Creekwalk, and the “Merriment on Main” festivities during the holiday season. With Vacaville’s central location, residents can “day trip” to beaches, Lake Tahoe, and the Napa wine country. For those who want to stay local, Lagoon Valley Park provides the opportunity to fish, hike, and sail in a scenic, natural setting. Other options include enjoying the downtown with a stroll along the beautiful Creekwalk, catching a movie, or hitting the ice at the skating center. Residents and visitors enjoy an expanding choice of restaurants in the revitalized, historic downtown, and some of the best shopping in the area with a thriving retail district along Interstate 80 that includes one of the largest factory outlet complexes in California. • California boasts over 1,000 spider species! Even though spiders might not have the best publicity, Solano County Water Agency notes that it is time to give them the credit they deserve! Spiders are beneficial predators that feed on pest, insects, and can help reduce reliance on insecticides that contribute to the runoff and pollution of waterways. Most spiders are non-venomous and prefer to avoid people. Some spiders are even adorable, like jumping spiders! 🕸️ There are around 300 species of jumping spiders in the U.S. These spiders don’t build webs but pounce or ‘jump’ to capture their prey. This October, SCWA encourages everyone to make room for these splendid creatures in their garden! 🌼
