A newly enhanced collaboration between City Colleges of Chicago and Amazon Web Services (AWS) will expand its Machine Learning University Educator Enablement Program (MLU‑EEP) programming to faculty. Through bootcamps, virtual trainings, and other professional development opportunities, educators will gain expertise in cutting-edge AI/ML concepts powered by AWS cloud technology. Today, we’re celebrating the completers of the 44th cohort of the Overhead Electrical Line Worker Program at City Colleges of Chicago-Kennedy-King College's satellite campus, Dawson Technical Institute — a long-standing partnership between City Colleges of Chicago and ComEd. Since it was launched, this six-month training program has prepared more than 500 students for careers in the energy sector, with over 300 hired directly at ComEd.   As Chancellor Juan Salgado said, “Our programs lead to real jobs, real possibilities, and real economic opportunity.” In recognition of the quality of talent from DTI, ComEd is committing $130,000 for additional scholarships for the program. This celebration is a powerful reminder: short-term training can lead to long-term impact — and to a workforce that keeps our communities strong and connected. The inaugural cohort of the Machine Learning University (MLU) at City Colleges of Chicago-Kennedy-King College gathered to celebrate completing the program. MLU is a multi-course career pathway which takes students through the necessary curricula to pursue careers in this growing tech field.

City Colleges of Chicago is expanding and strengthening programs that prepare students for real-world career success. We are proud participants in Project ACCESS, a national initiative that focuses on creating pathways for learners who face barriers to opportunity.
