Today, we’re celebrating the completers of the 44th cohort of the Overhead Electrical Line Worker Program at City Colleges of Chicago-Kennedy-King College's satellite campus, Dawson Technical Institute — a long-standing partnership between City Colleges of Chicago and ComEd. Since it was launched, this six-month training program has prepared more than 500 students for careers in the energy sector, with over 300 hired directly at ComEd. As Chancellor Juan Salgado said, “Our programs lead to real jobs, real possibilities, and real economic opportunity.” In recognition of the quality of talent from DTI, ComEd is committing $130,000 for additional scholarships for the program. This celebration is a powerful reminder: short-term training can lead to long-term impact — and to a workforce that keeps our communities strong and connected.
