City of Ann Arbor just launched a new #OpenDataPortal that brings city information out of spreadsheets and into interactive #dashboards, maps and charts. Built with #PortalJSCloud, the portal lets people see what’s happening in their city: - How resources are distributed - Where infrastructure is growing - What patterns emerge in transport, environment, and safety data The system uses CKAN (industry-leading #OpenSourceSoftware) as its backend with an API for developers, combined with a user-friendly custom interface by #PortalJS for general public access. This September, members of the CKAN community met in Bologna, Italy, for csv,conf,v9 — a small but mighty gathering of developers, librarians, civic technologists, and data advocates exploring how #data builds communities. From hallway conversations to lightning talks, #CKAN kept showing up — as the invisible infrastructure behind #OpenData projects around the world.
