Thank you to the Max-Planck-Institut für Nachhaltige Materialien GmbH for the kind invitation to speak at this week’s #colloquium! I shared insights from two exciting projects at the intersection of sustainability, circularity, and innovation: 🔹 The EU-funded CLASCO project, applying a Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approach through additive manufacturing, laser-based surface functionalization, and AI-driven in-line monitoring. 🔹 The Green Loops project, developed in collaboration with Kiran Gulian (University of Wolverhampton), which combines clean energy material innovation with AI-supported recycling of complex waste. We're honored that Green Loops is among the 10 finalists of the Manchester Prize! The audience was not only engaged but also incredibly kind and polite — a true pleasure to connect with everyone. #SusMet #MPISusMat #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #MaterialsScience #AIforGood #ManchesterPrize #CLASCO #GreenLoops #PVLoops #Innovation
On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Gesa Beck for an insightful #colloquium at Max-Planck-Institut für Nachhaltige Materialien GmbH. In her talk, Gesa explored two key pillars of holistic sustainable development: Sustainability Improvement and the Circular Economy. She introduced the EU-funded CLASCO project, where a Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approach merges additive manufacturing, laser-based surface functionalization, and AI-driven in-line monitoring to make emerging technologies more sustainable. Additionally, she shared insights from the Green Loops project, which connects clean energy-relevant material production with the recycling of complex waste, including photovoltaic modules, powered by AI-supported development and process optimization. It was an insightful session that showed how circularity, sustainability, and digital innovation go hand in hand. Thank you for the interesting lecture! #SusMet #MPISusMat #Sustainability #MaterialsScience
