  • Newly Acquired: Fata Morgana by Giambologna ✨   This extraordinarily rare and internationally renowned sculpture is now on view in Gallery 117B of the Italian Renaissance collection. 🖤   We were honored to welcome Mayor Francesco Pignotti and two of his colleagues (Paola Nocentini and Valentina Buti) from Bagno a Ripoli, the village outside of Florence where the villa il Riposo is located. The grounds of the villa include the grotto for which the Fata Morgana by Giambologna was commissioned, and help to provide historical context for the gallery design of Fata Morgana’s new home at the CMA.   Learn more about this masterpiece during your next visit. Plan your visit at CMA.org.

  • We were honored to welcome Representative Nick Santucci from Trumbull County to the Cleveland Museum of Art. While our name reflects our Cleveland roots, our impact extends far beyond the city. The CMA and our surrounding Fine Arts Campus welcome nearly 700,000 visitors each year—including tens of thousands of schoolchildren—making us not only a treasured cultural destination, but also a driver of tourism and economic vitality for the entire State of Ohio. It was a pleasure to share how the CMA serves communities across the region and the state, and we look forward to continuing our role as a resource for all Ohioans.

  • The CMA is pleased to finalize our agreement with the Libyan Department of Antiquities to transfer of a Ptolemaic Statue of a Man to the State of Libya.    Based on information provided by the Department and the CMA’s own research, the museum concluded that the sculpture rightfully belongs to Libya. The sculpture will remain on display at the CMA with text panels describing its history and acknowledging Libya’s ownership.    The CMA is grateful to the Libyan Department of Antiquities continuing cooperation and cultural exchange.
