🎓 Watch Compton Goes To College Conference Recap! 🎓   Listen to CUSD scholars as they attended the 10th Annual Compton Goes to College Conference at California State University-Dominguez Hills in partnership with GEAR UP Cal State Dominguez Hills and GEAR UP UC Irvine. 🎶🎤 Hitgirl Lena Brings Songwriting and Beats to Compton High School ! 🎶🔥   Hitgirl Lena — a celebrated songwriter and 19-year-old rising artist — joined Mr. Joshua Jones’ Audio Production class today for an unforgettable songwriting workshop! 💫   Scholars collaborated with Lena and her producers across multiple creative stations, diving into lyric writing, beat production, and the full process of crafting an original song from scratch. 🎧✍🏽 From catchy hooks to powerful verses, the class came together to record an infectious track by the end of the session! 🎵💥   This hands-on experience gave our Tarbabes a chance to express themselves artistically, learn about the music industry, and create side-by-side with real professionals. 👩🏽🎤🎛️   #ComptonUnified #ComptonHighSchool #MightyTarbabes #RecordingArtists #MusicEducation #CreativityInAction

💫 Compton Unified Scholars Empowered at It’s All About Me Young Women’s Health Conference! 💫 Scholars from Compton Early College High School and Compton High School attended the 3rd Annual It’s All About Me Young Women’s Health Conference in Carson, CA — a powerful day dedicated to helping young women care for their mind, body, and spirit. 💖✨ This year’s theme, “The Holistic Woman: A Conference for the Mind, Body & Spirit,” featured expert panels, Q&A sessions, and hands-on workshops covering mental wellness, diabetes, stroke prevention, eye health, caregiving, grief management, brain health, and more. 🧠💪🏾💫 Students also enjoyed lunch, live entertainment, swag bags, and connected with local community resources and vendors. 🎶🛍️🍽️ By day’s end, our young women left inspired, informed, and empowered to take charge of their health and support one another on the journey toward wellness. 🌸🙌🏾 #ComptonUnified #ComptonEarlyCollege #ComptonHighSchool #YoungWomensHealth #EmpowerHer #MindBodySpirit

📚✨ What’s in a school name? Scholars at Bunche Elementary recently discovered the powerful story behind theirs! Kenneth Robinson, the great-nephew of Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, visited the school to share a fascinating history lesson and slide show about his legendary uncle — the school’s namesake. 🙌🏾 Mr. Robinson told inspiring stories about how Dr. Bunche: 🏡 Grew up in South Central Los Angeles, not far from Compton. 🏀 Attended UCLA on an athletic scholarship and graduated valedictorian of his class. 🎓 Earned his doctorate from Harvard, finishing first in his class. 🏛️ Became a United Nations diplomat and helped establish the UN Charter. 🌍 Negotiated the first Middle East peace agreement and was instrumental in the creation of the Israeli state. 🏅 Became the first African American to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1950. ✊🏾 Marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and played a vital role in the Civil Rights Movement.
