BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Wall Street, meet AI Street. Our SF event was standing-room-only… so we figured it’s time to raise the bar. On Nov 11, we’re hosting the a16z Finance Forum: NYC Demo Day at the NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE. I’ll kick things off with Seema Amble with a fireside chat on how we see things developing from our POV, followed by live, real-world demos from founders we love at Concourse, Rillet, Runway, Sequence, Sphere, and Vantage, all rethinking how finance runs in the AI era. This event is for finance leaders who want to make their work lives better with AI,  real products solving real finance problems. It’s not your typical slide deck session. It’s founders showing their products, in person, in action and chatting with you after about where they’re headed next. Seats are going fast (our SF event got booked to capacity early), so if you want in, now’s the time and the sign-up link is in the comments. BIG FAVOR: If you know other finance folks who’d get value from this, please re-share this post with your network. Thank you and I hope to see you there!

  • Finance teams that stay ahead are choosing AI-native tools That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Rillet We are bringing together Rillet’s AI-native ERP and Concourse’s AI agents to transform how finance teams report, plan, and forecast. Together, we are already helping teams close their books faster, leverage AI from day one, scale with agents, and embrace the full impact AI can have on finance. "Rillet and Concourse together are the foundation of our AI-first finance operations. Rillet ensures our financial data is standardized and we can close our books faster, while Concourse lets us query our financial and operational data through natural language to drive insights. This is what modern finance infrastructure should look like." - Dan V., SVP of Finance at Opendorse. " The future of finance is being built by teams who want to move faster and plan smarter. With Rillet + Concourse that future is already taking shape. We’re excited to keep building the future of finance alongside Rillet 🚀

Andreessen Horowitz just featured Concourse as part of the next wave of AI companies reshaping workflows Over the weekend, I read the most recent blog post from Angela Strange and Joe Schmidt IV on Oil Wells vs. Pipelines: Two Strategies for Building AI Companies. They highlight Concourse as an example of the AI pipeline model. For us this means AI Agents that connect into core systems of truth, like data warehouses (ex: Snowflake / BigQuery), ERPs (ex: NetSuite and Sage), FP&A tools (Anaplan and Pigment), and more to automate workflows and deliver insights across the data stack. For the finance teams, this translates directly into impact: ⚡ Faster answers without waiting on manual SQL pulls, saved searches, or spreadsheet gymnastics ⌛ Hours saved every week for strategic finance teams, FP&A, treasury and accounting teams. On average, we see a reduction of over 75% of manual work after implementing Concourse 🏃➡️ Decision-ready finance orgs where data is connected and accessible in real time and the number of insights delivered grows by 6x+ Ted Michaels and I started Concourse after we experienced the multiple sources of truth and manual processes at unicorn startup Jeeves. Finance teams need better pipelines to make sense of the rich data they have but have a hard time accessing and analyzing. We’re all-in on building the AI pipeline for modern finance teams and helping organizations make better data-driven decisions 🚀

Must listen podcast from Michaela Lehr on CJ Gustafson's podcast Run the Numbers for CFO's looking to grow their impact & modernize their role Michaela was the CFO at ActionIQ by Uniphore and led the finance function and team through a successful exit after raising over $130M from Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz Some of the key insights from the long-form conversation: - The evolution of the CFO role and what it means today - The importance of margins (when the world seems to have forgotten about them) - AI as a catalyst for change with finance and its ability to maximize impact She even highlights her favorite new finance tool (ofc Concourse) and how our AI agents are helping finance teams make better decisions. Grateful for our first organic podcast shoutout 🙏 Much more to come!!

Tech CFO, prev ActionIQ (acq by Uniphore)

Oh man this was so much fun. Getting to talk shop with CJ Gustafson on Run the Numbers was a unique opportunity for an unfettered nerd-out about topics we both spend (way too much) time thinking about, including: - Thinking about companies as a utility function, with multiple levers and coefficients to push/pull to optimize the function - Durable vs empty-calorie growth - not all ARR is created equal! - AI disruption of SaaS (honestly, who *isn’t* talking about this?) - Getting engineers to care about gross margin and creating a common language across the executive team - Humans, and how important it is to bring empathy to the office of the CFO And so much more. Give it a listen, let me know what you think! https://lnkd.in/eYVvX4_Q

The company org chart is being rewritten in real time. AI agents are fundamentally changing how companies scale. Not just at Concourse, but everywhere at the top SV companies. The decade-old playbook: More revenue = more people. Sign 20 customers → hire a CSM Add 30 employees → hire an HR person Launch new product → hire a product marketing manager The new playbook: One leader per KPI + a bunch of AI agents. Here's what I'm seeing right now: Engineering teams using Cursor are shipping 5x faster with the same headcount. One engineer + AI pair programming is outproducing entire teams. Marketing teams using Lovable are building full campaigns in hours, not weeks. One creative strategist + AI agents handling landing page creation, copy variations, A/B tests Finance teams using Concourse are closing books 3x faster. One finance leader + AI agents handling variance analysis, reporting, and forecasts. The pattern is clear: Sharp operators who know how to direct AI agents are becoming 10x more productive than traditional teams. As Jensen Huang said: "AI won't take your job, but someone using it might." The winners won't be the companies with the biggest teams. They'll be the ones with the best leverage. The ones with the most AI agents. The ones who can create 5x more than others while benefiting from staying smaller. This is how we're building Concourse. We're creating AI agents for corporate finance teams—helping finance teams 10x the work they could ever do before. The org chart revolution is happening now. 🚀

The average time to close the books is still 6.4 days And yes, that includes teams using accounting software. A decade ago, it took 10+ days. Vertical SaaS helped. But progress has stalled. Now? Most accounting teams are being asked to do more with less: • Smaller headcount • More complexity • Higher expectations It’s no wonder accountants are burnt out. And it’s not getting better with the current stack, in fact, it's getting worse. That’s where AI comes in. AI is reshaping the accounting workflow from the ground up. Faster closes, cleaner books, continuous reporting, and fewer manual reconciliations. Modern accounting teams are making the change. They are driving innovation. We just published a roundup of the top AI accounting platforms out right now. We focused on those that accounting teams are actually using to drive better results. We cover: 🧠 Concourse – AI agents for reconciliation, variance, and close ⏳ Numeric – Close automation 📄 Truewind – AI-powered workpapers and reconciliations 🚀 Puzzle 🧩🚀 – Real-time books for startups 📝 DualEntry – Automated ledger for SMBs 🏘️ Rillet – ERP for invoicing + revenue recognition 🔁 Fazeshift (YC S24) – AI-native AR/AP 📬 Stampli – AP automation with vendor comms built in 💳 MESH – Spend control with card-level policy 📊 Digits – Live dashboards and variance alerts 📑 Klarity – AI contract review and rev rec 💰 Anrok – Dynamic sales tax compliance 📚 Numeral – VAT/GST filing across jurisdictions The full post includes use cases, funding rounds, and how each tool fits into the broader shift from batch-driven chaos to continuous clarity. It’s time to upgrade your accounting workflows. Time to bring AI in. 👇 Full blog post in the comments
