We are excited to share that Scouts BSA has launched two new, highly relevant merit badges: Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity! These additions are part of Scouting's commitment to preparing youth for success in our rapidly evolving digital world! What Scouts will learn: Artificial Intelligence (AI): Basics, history, real-world uses, automation, understanding deep fakes, and the ethics of AI (data privacy, best use & practices, fairness, and future impact). Cybersecurity: Essential skills to navigate the online world securely, including identifying cyber threat, encryption, firewalls, backups and protecting personal information. This is a fantastic opportunity for our Scouts to explore potential career paths and become responsible, informed users of modern technology. #NewMeritBadges #ScoutLife #DigitalSkills #STEM #ScoutingAmerica

When Troop 15 Scout of Tolland and high school senior John S. took on his Eagle Scout project, he didn’t just build something; he strengthened an entire community. After hundreds of hours of planning and construction, John delivered a fully functional K-9 obstacle course for Connecticut State Police Troop C, right in their front yard. This project isn’t just a testament to his dedication; it’s a powerful example of how Scouting empowers young people to lead, serve, and make lasting contributions. From supporting first responders to enhancing public safety, Eagle Scout projects like John’s leave a legacy of service and impact. Scouting teaches more than knots and camping; it cultivates civic responsibility, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to service. Whether it’s building infrastructure, organizing food drives, or supporting emergency services, Scouts are shaping the future of our communities. Let’s celebrate the power of youth-led service. Scouts attended Emergency Day this past weekend, held at Mattatuck Scout Reservation. Scouts earned four Merit Badges and learned about various careers in emergency services, including fire, police, and EMS. Fire Explorers competed against other posts in a fire muster competition, earning trophies that they will take back to their respective fire departments! Emergency Day is an example of how the Connecticut Rivers Council - Scouting America prepares young people to be the leaders of tomorrow. Every day is a new opportunity to learn something new through hands-on education and learning from professionals in their field. We'd like to thank John Coleman for helping to organize this event. If you would like to learn how your team or organization can make a difference in the lives of young people, please contact Jason Messier at Jason.Messier@Scouting.org. It was a pleasure being able to represent Connecticut Rivers Council, Scouting America and present at the Scouting America National Outdoor Conference held at Philmont Scout Ranch's Training Center this past week. Destigmatization of mental health within youth serving organizations is something I take personal pride in. I was honored to help support fellow scouters and councils across the nation in trying to better understand how to develop mental, emotional, and social health programs of their own. Widespread support of MESH will continue to reduce harm among today's youth and encourage more open conversations around such an important subject.

Cub Scout Pack 47 of Manchester participated in a clean-up at Valley Falls Park in Vernon as part of Save the Sound. These volunteer opportunities for scouts instill incredible values, such as the importance of taking care of their communities and recognizing that they, too, can make a positive impact. These children will grow up to be incredible citizens & future leaders. #Scoutmein #CTscouting
