  • Amazing community support by our team members in Big Rapids, Greenville, Reed City, Pennock, Zeeland, Gerber and Ludington! ⬇️

Corewell Health Facilities Team Members Unite for Community & Collaboration Community service stands at the heart of strong teams, and each of our regional facilities teams paired off to come together for the greater good of the community while forging team connections with each other. This year, we wanted to give back to our community who are also our neighbors, friends and family.   This summer, our Big Rapids, Greenville and Reed City facilities teams came together to help with the Habitat for Humanity Restore renovation in Big Rapids. The Pennock and Zeeland facilities teams partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help build houses for a new neighborhood in Holland. Our Gerber and Ludington facilities teams volunteered with Home Team Housing (formerly Habitat for Humanity) in Ludington. The team’s mission was to build a wheelchair ramp for a veteran. Just like our previous team, both teams traveled without hesitation to answer the call. The teams came together in a collective effort to successfully build the ramp from the bottom up. They worked together in leveling the ground for the ramp, cutting lumber for framing and deck boards for the ramp, installing the frame and deck boards and adding handrails for the ramp.   Across all the regions, the facilities department’s commitment to team building is clear. By uniting for meaningful causes and memorable challenges, staff members continue to build foundations of trust, connection, and shared vision that support not only their organizations but also the communities they serve. Such hands-on projects serve as powerful reminders of the positive change that teams can achieve when they work toward a common goal.

  • Take a look at the progress happening to Joan Secchia Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital - a collaboration between Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital! We look forward to the opening in 2026!

An inspiring new landmark is standing tall for Mary Free Bed Kids! An 80 ft. tall steel arch now rises over Wealthy Street, uniting Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital with our new children’s hospital.🌟   The Arch of Hope & Freedom shines bright for all that Mary Free Bed stands for: strength & compassion, unity & belonging, big goals & monumental achievements. It reflects the journey of every patient who reaches for new beginnings and climbs to brighter futures. For kids and families visiting us from near and far, it’s a powerful reminder that freedom and independence are within reach.🧡💚   Thanks to our ‘arch’itectural powerhouse team – Granger Construction, Pure Architects, VanDellen Steel, and Pioneer Construction , for bringing this 126,000 pound steel vision to life with care.✨   Our heartfelt appreciation to the Currie family: your generosity now stretches skyward as a bold reminder of possibility, progress and hope for patients, families and our community.🩷   More to come! As we count down to Joan Secchia Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital opening in 2026, this is one architectural leap for pediatric rehab, one giant beacon of hope for kids across Michigan and beyond.💫

October marks the 80th anniversary of the National Disability Employment Awareness Month (#NDEAM). This observance is a time to honor the contributions of workers with disabilities and reaffirm our commitment to building a workplace where everyone belongs. Inclusion is not just a value, it’s a practice. This month, we celebrate the talents, perspectives and strengths of our team members with disabilities, while also recognizing the barriers that persist. We are called to do more than acknowledge, we must act. The theme of NDEAM 2025 is rooted in equity: emphasizing ensuring fair access and opportunity; making certain that people of all abilities and disabilities have meaningful work and pathways to growth. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, people with disabilities continue to face gaps in workforce participation with higher unemployment and limited access to advancement. That’s why Corewell Health is investing in education, awareness and structural change, from inclusive hiring practices to accessibility in hybrid workspaces. Together, we can build a culture where every individual is seen, supported and empowered to thrive. And it all starts with how we show up for one another. Let’s make this October a celebration of ability, and a catalyst for change.

  • At 25, Tamie Wind was a single mom, fresh out of nursing school and newly diagnosed with cancer. She beat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but the treatments left her with lifelong challenges like neuropathy, narcolepsy and type 2 diabetes. Because of these challenges, she often struggled with her weight, energy and blood sugar. “Everything changed when I met Alexandra, a dietitian who believed in me,” explains Tamie. “With her help, I learned how to eat for heart health, manage my diabetes and feel good in my body again.” Tamie lost 30 pounds, lowered her blood pressure and blood sugar and, most importantly, feels better. “I now eat balanced meals, drink more water and fuel my body with foods that fight inflammation and give me energy. I even found joy in mitt boxing again!”
