During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Bucks County Commissioners recognized the Bucks County Prothonotary’s Office, which administers Protection From Abuse Orders (PFAs). This year is set to be the office’s highest number of reported cases yet. To assist with emotional distress, the office collaborates with A Woman’s Place and the “Prothy Pound,” a team of therapy dogs and their owners who stand by weekly to offer comfort to those in need. If you or someone you know needs to file a PFA, learn more at: buckscounty.gov/pfa. The process can be started on a laptop or smartphone.

A bridge in Middletown was recently dedicated to 1LT. Lee Clickner, a soldier killed in the Vietnam War. The Neshaminy High School and Penn State University graduate entered the Army in 1968 and perished while on patrol in the Quang Nga Province of Vietnam on Oct. 25, 1969. Friends who attended the ceremony and wrote letters to be read remembered him as a good student and even better wrestler who was named to Neshaminy’s League of Champions. It’s Fire Prevention Week (FPW)! Shout out to County Fire Marshal Ryan Brookes for attending a recent Commissioners’ meeting to talk about fire safety tips. This year’s FPW theme is “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” emphasizing the importance of using, charging, and recycling lithium-ion batteries safely. Did you know most electronics used in homes - including smartphones, tablets, laptops and power tools - are powered by lithium-ion batteries?
