The San Mateo County Sustainability Department is offering free deconstruction trainings in partnership with GreenLynx! Deconstruction, also known as salvage, is a cost-effective AND environmentally responsible alternative to conventional building demolition. Put simply, deconstruction is the disassembling of a building in order to reuse and recycle as many materials as possible. 🏗️♻️ Tuesday, October 21, 6 to 8 pm Virtual. 🔗 Register at sustainsmc.org/events. Employee Spotlight ✨ Tina DeRose is an IS Client Systems Specialist II with the County’s Information Services Department, where she provides desktop support to help County employees stay connected, productive, and secure. From troubleshooting devices to deploying new technology, Tina plays a key role in powering the systems that serve the public. With eight years of service, Tina is proud to be part of the County’s behind-the-scenes infrastructure. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she helped lead the transition to remote and hybrid work, ensuring staff could continue delivering essential services without disruption. "Working with purpose means knowing that even if my work isn’t visible, it still matters,” she shared. “Every resolved ticket and every system update supports something bigger." Outside of work, Tina collects vintage '80s and '90s runway jewelry and says she can troubleshoot a PC faster than she can decide what to watch on Netflix. 🤣 Thank you, Tina, for your dedication and the vital work you do behind the scenes. 🙌 #WorkWithPurpose

A Recipe for a Fresh Start ✨ The Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) HOME – Food Services Training Program is opening doors to new opportunities. Through hands-on training in commercial kitchens, participants with little or no prior experience gain the skills needed to secure stable employment, including the chance to earn a California Food Handler’s Certificate.
