#FlashbackFriday to when CPC Hong Ning Housing and the Hong Ning Tenant’s Association hosted a special haircut event ✂️ for 20 older adults. It was more than just a haircut but a day of community, connection, and care.

CPC and City Tutors held a Economics of Wrestling Mentorship Event at CPC One, where students came in curious about wrestling and gained real-world insight into the business side of sports entertainment. Here’s what they had to say: 🎤“From strategy and branding to finance and media production, it truly opened my eyes to the wide range of opportunities in the industry.” - Srey Ka Theap, a Risk Management master’s student at Queens College. 🎤 “I was impressed with how prepared and genuinely curious all the attendees were.” - Brian R. Solomon, a former WWE media professional and wrestling historian. 🎤 “Wrestling with contradictions, adjusting to ever-changing circumstances—that’s the nature of a wrestler. The greatest gift a mentor gives is attention. A following turns from indifferent into believers.” Joel, a Lehman graduate.

🔥 Latino Trailblazer 🔥 Congratulations to Julio Peña III, Director of CPC Project Reach, for being included in City & State’s inaugural Latino Trailblazers list! “Bridging Latino, Asian and immigrant communities across New York, Julio Peña III leads with vision and purpose. As a director of Project Reach at the Chinese-American Planning Council, he oversees youth development programs as well as LGBTQ+ and antidiscrimination workshops, advancing opportunities for youth of all backgrounds. Separately, as a Democratic district leader in Sunset Park and Red Hook and as chair of Brooklyn Community Board 7, he has championed equity, inclusion and youth engagement. With a tireless commitment to social justice, Peña has built cross-community coalitions that amplify underrepresented voices and empower underserved New Yorkers.” Congrats to our allies, advocates and community partners who were also recognized!
