🏗️ Good News Thursday: Circularity takes center stage in the built environment The World Green Building Council has launched a new Resources and Circularity Readiness Framework - a practical tool to help governments, investors, and industry leaders accelerate the shift to circular building systems. By defining what “circular readiness” looks like across data, policy, and technical infrastructure, the framework moves the sector from awareness to measurable action. At the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, we see strong alignment between this approach and the C2C Certified® Product Standard, which guides manufacturers in designing building materials that support healthy, circular use cycles. You can already see this approach in action through C2C Certified® products such as: 🏢 Ahrend Balance Workstations - built for continuous use through modular design and verified pathways for remanufacturing and reuse. 🏢 Reborn by Alma SpA - designed for recovery through a dedicated take-back system and public recycling instructions that ensure materials are properly collected and reprocessed. 🏢 ORAÉ® Float Glass & ORAÉ® Coated Glass by Saint-Gobain - produced with 64% recycled glass and supported by a growing closed-loop recycling network that connects over 30 partners across Europe. Together, these examples demonstrate how certified design can turn circular goals into practical systems that keep materials in use and data in motion. Through our ongoing digital transformation, we are enabling circularity data to flow across the value chain, making the circular economy both measurable and actionable. #C2CCertified #BuiltEnvironment #CircularDesign #CircularEconomy #DesignForCircularity #SustainableArchitecture #FutureProof Source: https://lnkd.in/gKbR9SJw

Congratulations to Johnnie Walker, the first whisky brand to achieve Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope Bronze under Version 4.0 for its Red & Black Label packaging! This milestone reflects nearly two years of work by Diageo to advance circular packaging that meets rigorous standards for material health and circular sourcing. Highlights include: 🥃 The bottles contain up to 50% recycled glass (with both pre- and post-consumer sources), helping reduce waste and support a circular economy. 🥃 The packaging meets rigorous standards for circular sourcing and material health, earning a respected certification for its environmental impact. 🥃 Every bottle is engineered for clean disassembly, making it easy for consumers and recycling facilities to recover valuable materials. 🥃 Diageo partners with glass vendors and local programmes to boost glass collection and recycling, driving industry-wide change. 🥃 Strict controls ensure any restricted chemicals (like organotin in coatings) are kept well below legal limits, prioritising consumer safety and environmental health. A major achievement that sets a new benchmark for circular packaging in the beverage industry and demonstrates how established brands can lead with measurable impact. #C2CCertified #JohnnieWalker #CircularPackaging #CircularDesign #MaterialHealth #FutureProof #CircularEconomy

Ahead of PERFORMANCE DAYS 2025, our Director for Apparel, Textiles & Footwear Nienke Steen is attending the Day 0 Conference in Munich, a full day dedicated to rethinking how the textile industry designs for circularity. 🌿 This year’s theme, “In nature, there is no waste,” explores how nature’s own systems can inspire smarter design, better material choices, and supply chains built for accountability. We look forward to the conversations shaping how performance textiles can move closer to true circularity. Beyond achieving Cradle to Cradle Certified® for over 3,000 products, LAUFEN Bathrooms is demonstrating measurable circular progress by reintegrating recycled ceramic shards into new products and designing materials for clean extraction after decades of use. By combining material innovation with low-carbon production, Laufen shows what credible circular manufacturing looks like in action. #C2CCertified #CircularDesign #SustainableCeramics #MaterialInnovation #CircularEconomy #FutureProof
Two years ago, LAUFEN’s parent company Roca Group invested in the world’s first electric tunnel kiln for sanitaryware at our Gmunden plant. Today, it operates as part of our daily manufacturing process, reducing CO₂ emissions and setting a new benchmark for responsible ceramic production. And now, we’re pleased to announce that over 3,000 products manufactured at the plant have achieved Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute certification, which means they’re safe, circular and responsibly made. Making progress, one ceramic piece at a time. Explore our commitment to sustainability: https://bit.ly/3Xfi4cK #LAUFENbathrooms #Sustainability

Learning through practice and the occasional mistake is part of how circular design evolves. At Building Green DK, our Director for Built Environment Ren DeCherney will join the “Oops, I Did It Again” panel to share lessons from real-world circularity challenges and how they can inform better design decisions across the built environment. Every honest conversation helps turn circular design from theory into tangible progress! #C2CCertified #CircularDesign #BuiltEnvironment #BuildingGreenDK #DesignForCircularity #FutureProof
Driving sustainability in the built environment by developing partnerships, advising manufacturers, and inspiring designers.
I am really excited for our Oops I Did it Again panel at Building Green DK with the amazing Lizzy Stuyfzand, Patrick Levie, and Christine Vandover, ASID, IIDA, LEED AP! We're tired of panels that are non-stop brag fests where you walk away wondering what YOU can do, so we're going to be real about mistakes we've all made while incorporating circularity into our projects. We're coming with real stories and practical info you can use in your own practice towards circularity - and hopefully you don't make the same mistakes we did! See you there!

🧵 Last week in Lisbon, the Textile Exchange Conference 2025 brought together the global textile community to discuss to discuss what’s next for circular materials and sustainable design, and Cradle to Cradle Certified® was part of the conversation. Together with OEKO-TEX®, Nienke Steen, our Director for Apparel, Textiles & Footwear, hosted an exclusive evening that brought together leading brands, retailers, and innovators to exchange ideas on designing truly circular products. One highlight of the event was the Circular Denim Bag, a tangible example of how brands can use healthy materials while meeting circularity goals. Throughout the week, sessions reinforced the same message that drives our work: circularity is not just a concept, it’s a business imperative. From measurable material innovation to systems that align environmental and economic value, the conversation reflected how C2C Certified® Circularity is already supporting the industry’s shift toward credible, scalable solutions.
