Feldman on their excellent article Proof of concept for high-dose Cannabidiol pretreatment to antagonize opioid induced persistent apnea in mice, published October 7th, in Frontiers in Neuroscience. https://lnkd.in/gvdjr8ZA Dr. Weise is the 2024 recipient of the ICRS Ethan Russo Trainee Prize and a staunch advocate for harm reduction for opioid addicted populations. The Ethan Russo Trainee Prize, is a community-funded scholarship to be given to one deserving ICRS Trainee, annually. The recipient receives their award to support ongoing research in applied medical research using phytochemicals with direct application to medicine. Dr. Russo applauds Weise et al's work saying, "This research portends to be a potential game changer in addressing the national the national opioid crisis. An estimated 3 million Americans use cannabis for medical purposes, primarily for chronic pain, muscle spasms, anxiety, nausea, seizures, and other conditions. Yet, most healthcare practitioners and students in the health professions report feeling unprepared to counsel patients or integrate cannabis into care.
