At first I was flattered, as not all of the 10,000 people at this week's #IBMTechXchange in Orlando have their own eponymous bot character. Alas, I soon learned (and not for the first time) that it’s not all about me. “Bob” is IBM's new, AI-powered "smart teammate" that lives inside the coding environment of developers. It understands the details, goals and context of a project, automatically upgrades old code, identifies and corrects errors in real time, and automates testing, documentation and compliance with the client's governance protocols. It turns hours-long tasks into minutes, and months-long projects into weeks. It's just one of the remarkable advancements that ring every point on the compass at this sprawling event. But nothing here is more impressive or inspiring than the university student project presentations that I've been attending featuring Morgan Burke, Tanvi Subramanya, Oliver Clemow, Brooklyn Luckett and Andreas Loizidis. There's plenty of angst to go around as pertains AI - and with good reason. But after witnessing the hard work, determination, creativity and seriousness of purpose of these young people, I'll leave tonight full of hope, inspiration and gratitude. I hope to be back next year, with a few students from the CSUN David Nazarian College of Business and Economics in tow, to shine on this global stage.

Last Friday’s Western Regional Conference at The American Marketing Association (AMA) Long Beach was an unforgettable experience! Connecting with so many passionate and motivated students from across SDSU, CSUF, UCR, CSUN, and CPP reminded me why I love being part of a community that’s filled with people who are genuinely committed to growth and leadership. I left feeling inspired, energized, and grateful to continue developing through the American Marketing Association. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible CSULB AMA presidential team, Sabrina Chin and Isaac Oh, for their vision, dedication, and leadership. Grateful for the connections I’ve made and the insights shared at the conference. I look forward to the continued learning and growth ahead🌟
