  • Announced at #dbtCoalesce: state-aware orchestration is now in Preview for dbt Fusion projects. As data estates grow, so do costs and complexity. Across the dbt ecosystem, teams built over 33 billion models last year. Scale brings real compute costs and cognitive load—but it doesn’t have to. State-aware orchestration changes how pipelines run by only rebuilding what actually needs to run. dbt tracks code and data state, automatically reusing models that haven’t changed. The result: faster runs, lower costs, and less manual scheduling. Early results show the impact: • 10% immediate cost reduction just by turning it on • 15%+ additional savings through fine-tuned freshness configurations • 4% testing efficiency gains by skipping tests when they do not need to re-run Together, that’s a potential 29%+ reduction in annual compute costs with no project rewrites required. At dbt Labs, using Fusion with state-aware orchestration led to a 64% cost reduction in our own analytics project. State-aware orchestration is available in Preview for Enterprise customers running on Fusion. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g-4ffjpJ

  • Announced at #dbtCoalesce: the agent era for analytics has begun. We’re introducing dbt Agents (coming soon) and announcing the general availability of the remote dbt MCP Server, two launches that bring trusted, governed AI into the heart of analytics. The remote dbt MCP Server runs in the cloud and gives AI tools like Claude and Cursor a secure, governed way to connect directly to your dbt projects with no local setup or custom connectors. dbt Agents are governed, task-specific agents that leverage dbt’s structured context layer, using your existing definitions, lineage, and tests to automate work safely and intelligently. Together, they turn dbt into the standard context layer for agentic analytics, where every change, query, and insight is explainable, auditable, and built on trust. Start building your own copilots today with the remote dbt MCP Server or join the waitlist for dbt Agents. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gKM3_Mdd

What a week at #dbtCoalesce. Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and online for a week of learning, connection, and conversation about the future of data. We shared what’s next for dbt with open data infrastructure, the dbt Fusion engine, and new ways to bring AI into the flow of data work. But the best part was seeing the community come together—learning, collaborating, and shaping where this all goes next. If you missed something (or just want to relive it), register online for recordings of the keynotes and select breakout sessions. Thank you for being a part of it. See you in Vegas next year 🎰🎲

What an honor to keynote the Executive Summit at dbt Labs' Coalesce 2025 with a talk on “Leading Through AI Change”. Data is everything when it comes to AI, which is why it was especially exciting to be on the ground at the event the day dbt Labs announced their merger with Fivetran. When you hit the hotel gym early morning and find yourself in multiple conversations with happy customers in between sets, and see people lining up at registration at 8AM the day before broader programming begins, well, you know there is momentum in the air. As we look beyond incremental productivity to truly reimagining what is possible with AI, this merger of two a16z-backed players with very strong client rosters will be one to watch. Thanks to Hrishi Kulkarni, Elaine Green, and the rest of the team for putting on a fantastic summit! #dbtcoalesce #coalesce2025

  • This morning at #dbtCoalesce, we kicked off the day with the Community Keynote—a (birthday) celebration of dbt, the people who build with it, and the future we’re creating together. Jeremy Cohen, Grace Goheen, Elias DeFaria, Tristan Handy, and George Fraser shared how dbt Core and Fusion are united by a common framework and how we’ll continue to build in the open. They reaffirmed that dbt Core will remain Apache 2.0 forever We also celebrated the winners of this year’s dbt Community Awards, honoring contributors who go above and beyond to support, inspire, and strengthen the dbt Community around the world. After three days of ideas, connection, and collaboration, it’s time to unwind. Join us tonight for the Coalesce Party at 7pm 🪩✨
