Employers are constantly balancing the need to manage costs with the responsibility of offering benefits that support employee health. In a recent case study, we looked at a large employer with ~3,000 employees who compared a bundled medical + dental plan with a stand-alone dental plan through Delta Dental of Washington. The results were telling: the employer saved $591,470 in one year with the stand-alone plan. When calculating potential savings, it’s important to look beyond administrative fees and factor in: Higher in-network utilization Deeper provider discounts Specialized dental claims review 📖 Read the full case study: https://bit.ly/4nKYAbf

Last week, our leadership and Board visited Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences' (PNWU) new School of Dental Medicine at Equity Hall — a groundbreaking program made possible in part by a $12 million commitment from Delta Dental of Washington. Starting this August, the program will welcome its inaugural class of 36 students. After a foundational year on campus, these future dentists will complete three years of clinical training in community health centers across the region — gaining real-world experience while serving rural and underserved communities. This program was created to address persistent disparities in oral health access and to train a new generation of dentists who are deeply connected to the communities they serve. It's built on a belief we share: that quality dentistry begins with understanding people — their needs, their stories, and the unique challenges they face. We’re proud to partner with PNWU in this bold step forward for oral health equity — and excited to see the impact this diverse class of future providers will make across Washington and beyond. #communityhealth #dentalhealth #dentists #dentistry #education

Today, Delta Dental of Washington honors Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, more than two years after slavery was abolished, Union soldiers arrived in Texas with news that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were free. This day came to be known as Juneteenth, a day to celebrate, gather as a community, reflect on the past, and look to the future. This day resonates with our vision for oral health equity, where all people can enjoy good oral and overall health, with no one left behind. We recognize that systemic inequities are real and exist in oral health. Juneteenth reminds us of the enduring legacy of these inequities and the ongoing work needed to dismantle them. This year, we are proud to take part in the Africatown Community Land Trust Juneteenth Celebration in Seattle. Our offices are closed today in observance of this important holiday—giving our employees space to reflect, engage, and celebrate. #juneteenth #oralhealthequity #dentalhealth

Today, our leadership team and board came together wearing red in honor of National #WearRedDay, an initiative led by our partners at the American Heart Association. This annual tradition is a powerful reminder of the importance of heart health and how it connects to our mission of improving overall health and well-being. The AHA’s work to fund critical research and treatment for heart disease and stroke is inspiring and aligns closely with our focus on expanding access to care and supporting healthier communities. We’re proud to stand in solidarity with them today and every day. #Mission #HeartHealth #DentalHealth #Community #Notforprofit

Your health is about more than just your smile—it’s about your total well-being. That’s why we’re proud to offer the Delta Dental TotalHealth Wellness Program to our group members (an additional diagnosis-specific benefit). This program helps our group members connect oral health with overall health by providing additional coverage for individuals with qualifying conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and more. According to the Journal of American Dental Association, diabetics who were treated for periodontal disease saw their overall health care costs decrease by 12% to 14%. Better health starts with understanding the powerful connection between your mouth and body. Let’s bridge the gap—together.
