    Engineering Director at Mercari, Inc.

There’s been a lot of great discussion lately about what it truly means to become an AI-native organization. At Mercari, we’ve been on that journey too — and one thing I’ve learned along the way is that transformation doesn’t start with technology. It starts with understanding yourself. For us, that meant getting real about our data. Using DX, we built custom dashboards to track patterns, measure impact, and uncover what was actually changing — turning what used to be gut feelings into clear, measurable insights. The DX team partnered closely with us, helping us connect the dots (and the data! 🤩) so we could finally see how AI was reshaping the way we write, review, and ship code. We were not only able to debug our workflows — but even gain visibility into our organizational dynamics, which was truly eye-opening! I’ve come to realize that the best tools don’t just measure progress — they provide clarity. And clarity? That’s what drives real speed. #MOVEFAST 🚀 https://lnkd.in/gw9T3aCx

    Platform Leader, Mercari (ex-Hashicorp, ex-Netflix)

We’ve benefited a lot from DX in our journey with AI tool adoption and development transformation at Mercari, Inc. Recently we shared some of the benefits and insights that we were able to gain by using their service. Beyond adoption, for me the question of developer impact, as well as looking at how we will need to evolve our traditional productivity tooling (ex: CI and CD in the age of agent contributions) is the next phase of learning and opportunity. What systems break, what assumptions no longer hold, what should be shifted left (or right) are all now fascinating questions to explore. #platformengineering #ai https://lnkd.in/gVTDnZXN

Mercari is one of Japan’s most innovative technology companies, and their approach to becoming an AI-native organization is no exception. When Mercari’s leadership recognized that AI represented a major industry transformation, they turned to DX to understand how AI tools were being adopted across their engineering teams and what impact they were having. Over the past year, they’ve used DX data to guide every phase of their AI rollout: - Tracking adoption patterns and identifying segments of developers experiencing friction - Targeting enablement efforts to increase adoption and effectiveness - Measuring downstream impact on productivity, reliability, and cost Now, their Platform team is using DX data to explore the next frontier: understanding what AI agents mean for their systems and engineering practices. We’ve seen countless companies spend significant manual time trying to accurately document their R&D expenses to qualify for tax credits. This creates considerable strain on internal teams and can be error-prone. DX eliminates that burden by automatically tracking, attributing, and retroactively mapping engineering effort, making the process accurate, effortless, and audit-ready. What makes it powerful: - Automated project tracking: DX automatically pulls data from project tools and categorizes work using custom rules, reducing errors and eliminating the need for manual tracking. - Audit-ready compliance: Generate reports using CPA-reviewed formulas to ensure your reports are audit-ready and meet financial standards. - Complete customization: Tailor CapEx rules with custom fields, labels, and workflows to create reports that fit your specific financial standards. As one example, see how Provide automates their CapEx reporting with DX: https://lnkd.in/dNdbHs6h

It's real! Just got the proof of Frictionless, the book I wrote with Abi Noda about improving developer experience in the age of AI. Seeing months of writing and editing—built on years of working with hundreds of teams and organizations—become something you can actually hold is such a surreal moment. We can't wait to share this with you in mid-November. Get early access to workbooks and updates at https://lnkd.in/g8p_akdS

Developer intelligence for the AI era | DX

A cool career first: a prospective (and now actual) customer I worked with directly, Teamworks, has become an official DX case study! “With the other vendor we were evaluating, we would have been paying the same as DX while taking on more complexity. It’s another tool for developers to learn, more integrations to manage, and more overhead across the board. DX gave us a unified, cost-effective approach instead.” Big thanks to Michael Song, Sean Harrington, and Angelo Pace for being amazing partners through the process! Optimizing Developer Experience & Empowering Software Delivery

https://lnkd.in/dZBUA3vS 👆👆👆 Great post from Justin Reock at DX on AI's real impact on code quality, using data from over 43k engineers. The surprising part? 🤯 On average, AI's impact on quality is basically zero. But the average is misleading! 📉 The data clearly shows engineers who use AI only occasionally see a dip in code maintainability and confidence. 📈 The big jump in quality only happens for those who use it *daily*. For me, this confirms AI is just a tool, and it takes practice to get good with it. The real wins for quality and productivity only come once we make AI a daily habit and get through that initial learning curve. This is exactly what we're focusing on at Arrive. Partnering with DX for our engineering intelligence helps us see these patterns in our own teams and support them in adopting new tools effectively.
