Our Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Austin are ready to begin a new academic year! Yesterday, more than 800 faculty and staff gathered at St. William Parish in Round Rock for the 2025 Convocation. The day included Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, a keynote address from Deacon Ron Walker, Chancellor of the diocese, and recognition of educators celebrating milestone anniversaries in Catholic education. We are grateful for the dedication of our teachers and staff who form young minds and hearts in faith and excellence.

We joyfully announce that early this morning Pope Leo XIV appointed Most Reverend Daniel E. Garcia as the sixth bishop of the Diocese of Austin. Bishop Garcia, a native of our diocese, currently serves as the bishop of Monterey, California. We look forward to welcoming him home. Congratulations to the five new priests of the Diocese of Austin! Fr. Andrew Scott Fyall, Fr. Michael Lawrence Noriega, Fr. Kingsley Chisom Ohaeri, Fr. Michael Jeffrey Rhodes, and Fr. Hudson Ladd Spears were ordained to the priesthood on June 14 at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Austin. The ordination Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Joe S. Vásquez of Galveston-Houston. We give thanks for their vocations and keep them in our prayers as they begin their priestly ministry.
