3 weeks ago, we lost our son in a tragic car accident. He was 18 years and 28 days old. We hurt, and feel broken. Words can’t describe the pit in my stomach, the pain and the anger. Jamie graduated high school this past spring and he had been working at Discount Tire coming up on two years. He loved his Discount family, and they loved him. Not only did they find coverage for his whole store to attend the services, they also sent a beautiful flower arrangement. Speaking with his manager we found out that the North Texas Discount Tire had an established fund and helped us pay for the funeral expenses. They didn’t have to do that, it wasn’t their duty or responsibility, but they did it anyway. We had always got our tires there before Jamie worked there, but we will be loyal customers for life. Jamie’s dream was to be an Audi master mechanic, and his first job at discount tire taught him great work ethic, and gave him a chance to be hands on with a variety of cars. The Discount family will forever be our family. His two best friends also worked for Discount and they were known at their vocational high school as the Discount Gang. They loved it and during the ceremony, everyone that spoke mentioned the Discount gang. It was such a rewarding job for him and even though they are a national company, they treated him, and us, like family. We have established a scholarship fund to help other students from his high school that also have the passion for cars and want to be a mechanic. We were already able to help a student in need by providing him with his own toolset.
