🚨 Big news for maternal health in DC! The DC Department of Behavioral Health through the State Opioid Response grant has awarded Sadaf Kazi a grant to improve healthcare provider engagement with pregnant individuals with substance use in Washington, DC. In partnership with District of Columbia Hospital Association, DC Perinatal Quality Collaborative, and Gayle Olano Hurt, the Implementing Screening for Substance Use Disorders in Pregnant Individuals in the District project will apply human factors methodologies to: 🔹 Engage patients with lived experience with substance use in pregnancy and healthcare providers 🔹 Assess and address barriers to treatment for substance use disorders in pregnant individuals 🔹 Design and disseminate provider-focused training to improve respectful engagement with pregnant individuals around substance use We’re excited to partner with DCHA and DCPQC to strengthen maternal care across DC! #MaternalHealth #SubstanceUseDisorder #PerinatalCare #DCHealth #RespectfulMaternityCare #HumanFactors #MedStarHealth
