A new report, co-published by Oxfam International and CARE #PoweredbyDynata, reveals that developing countries are paying more back to wealthy nations for climate loans than they receive. Key findings from the report: • Rich countries claimed to have provided $116B billion in climate finance in 2022, but the true value was only $28–35B billion, less than one-third of their pledge. • Nearly two-thirds of public climate finance consisted of loans, often at commercial interest rates. • These loans are deepening a $3.3 trillion debt crisis across developing nations. • Repayments are now outpacing disbursements, creating a 42% profit for wealthy creditor countries. https://hubs.li/Q03NFKsP0 #ClimateFinance #ClimateJustice #Oxfam #CARE #Sustainability #COP30 #DebtCrisis #ClimateAction
