So excited to launch our project with the Town of Stantonsburg, NC. The town is working to update critical infrastructure to better serve the citizens. EPA's WaterTA Engineering Support is providing free technical expertise to develop stormwater master plan. We will also provide the community with a study of up to five stormwater improvement projects focused on flood reduction and water quality, including basic cost information for each of the five projects. They can then use the project information to decide which projects to prioritize for funding. The project is being led by Travis Ostrom and supported by AECOM and ERG.

I have felt so fortunate to be able to support the AnCOR SHIPP initiative alongside the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), DHS Science and Technology Directorate and U.S. Coast Guard. The dedication of these agencies to strengthening preparedness is admirable. Together we create a safer future. Thank you also to my fellow ERG colleagues for all of their work.
One of the most memorable and rewarding projects I’ve had the privilege to work on is now approaching its conclusion. The Analysis for Coastal Operational Resiliency (AnCOR) Systems for Helping Inform Practice and Protocol (SHIPP) project was envisioned to support the U.S. Coast Guard’s National Strike Force in preparing for and responding to nationally significant events. Funded by the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T), this multi-year effort aimed to implement decision support systems and advanced training methods to strengthen national resilience. We not only accomplished that goal—we redefined how training and operations can be approached in this space. Our team delivered results that will have lasting value: - Modernized decision support tools to ensure complex systems work seamlessly together, creating an intuitive, end-to-end experience for users. - Built an API-driven, centralized data repository that enables future scientific advancements to be integrated without added development time or cost. - Designed flexible systems that support both real-time decision-making and immersive training for tabletop exercises. - Introduced mixed-reality elements into training, turning complex scenarios into interactive, memorable learning experiences. - Applied artificial intelligence to generate realistic and evolving training simulations that mirror real-world challenges. Above all, I want to recognize the incredible dedication of the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard. Their professionalism, technical skill, and unwavering commitment to learning and collaboration were nothing short of inspiring. This effort was far from simple. It required deep coordination across the EPA, DHS S&T, USCG, and ERG. I am incredibly proud of what we achieved together and the impact our work will continue to have on a national scale. “The goal is not to sail the ship, but to help the ship sail itself.” – John Rousmaniere

As we close out Drinking Water Week, we're proud to spotlight the essential work ERG and our partners are doing to protect and improve drinking water quality across the country, including support for Nations, Tribes, and Pueblos. 💧 We recently took our first samples as part of our support for Tribal water systems in EPA Region 6, with a goal of wrapping up PFAS compliance monitoring for eligible Tribal water systems in the next year. 🤝 Special thanks to our partners, Rural Community Assistance Corporation and Communities Unlimited for their collaboration. 📣 Earlier this week, we presented to Northern Arizona University's Tribal PFAS Working Group on resources developed as part of our PFAS support work, like EPA’s PFAS Analytic Tools, to help inform local response efforts. Learn more about how we are helping with efforts to address PFAS here: https://lnkd.in/gcA_auQD #PFAS #ForeverChemicals #DrinkingWaterWeek2025

It may be the last day of #DrinkingWaterWeek2025, but for the dedicated professionals at ERG, our work to protect and improve drinking water never stops! We continue to work with agencies and communities to find and replace lead service lines, protecting public health. ☑️ In EPA Region 6, ERG helped EPA-regulated tribal water systems submit their lead service line inventory on time — and we continue to support many of these systems as they track down unknown lines, including through physical verification (aka “potholing”). 🔧 ERG assisted 10 systems in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin with lead service line inventories through EPA’s Lead Service Line Inventory Accelerator program and as a partner to Horsley Witten Group. #PublicHealth #DrinkingWaterWeek2025 #SafeDrinkingWater
