In a Q&A with American Maritime VOICES, Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. CEO Joey D'Isernia discusses his company's investment in training the next generation of shipbuilders with Haney Technical College. Calls to undermine the Jones Act are calls to take jobs away from qualified Americans and send them overseas. As D'Isernia highlights for readers, "The result would be a lost generation of shipbuilders and a weakened maritime industrial base." He says the best way to reinvigorate the workforce is through robust apprenticeship programs supported by a strong Jones Act and smarter government policies. When workers know the industry is stable, they’re more willing to invest their time and energy into mastering the trade—and that’s what ensures the next generation of American shipbuilders. ⚓️🇺🇸 Check it out: https://lnkd.in/eT-7wDdt

We are proud to partner with HII to support production of the US Navy fleet. This collaboration strengthens our national shipbuilding capability—expanding industrial capacity and enhancing our nation’s competitive advantage.
“HII is all in on our commitment to grow our throughput and turn out more ships at both yards more quickly for the Navy,” HII CEO and President Chris Kastner said. “We’ve already doubled our outsourced hours in 2025 and we are on track to quadruple them in a two year period. Our hiring is up, our attrition is down, and our experience base is growing.” HII is partnering with shipyards and fabricators in multiple states to grow our throughput and meet the increased demand for ships by the US Navy. With our customers' support, HII is bringing the work to more companies and more jobs in more states, expanding capacity of the U.S. shipbuilding industrial base and improving schedule adherence for all HII-built ships. For examples from our shipyards at Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII, and Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII, check out the story in HII's Newsroom: https://lnkd.in/eRcy9UAs
