With the completion of our 18th schoolyard transformation at Madison Park Academy Primary we’re celebrating another milestone in our work to reimagine what play can look like for Oakland kids. During our Christmas with the Currys event in December, we surprised students with the announcement that we’d be rebuilding their playground. Just a few months later, it’s a reality.
Thanks to the incredible support of our partners KABOOM!, Oakland Unified School District, Workday, and Kaiser Permanente, the unstoppable Madison Park Academy Primary community, and our dedicated volunteers, students now have access to a joyful, vibrant space designed by kids, for kids. From new play structures and multi-sport courts to an outdoor classroom, upgraded garden, colorful murals, 60 new trees, a Little Town Library, and so much more, this schoolyard brings our whole child, whole school approach to life.
Supporting the whole child means creating learning environments that care for students’ physical, social, and emotional well-being—and that starts with transforming the spaces where they spend their day. We’re building more than just playgrounds, we’re investing in the environments that help kids learn, grow, and thrive.
