Thanks for sharing your member story, Marcy Kyle RDN, LD, CDCES, FAND! 🤗 When did you first become an Academy member?
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, Nationally Recognized Speaker and Consultant specializing in telenutrition and diabetes prevention and management.
Please consider joining or renewing your Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics membership. It is so important that we dietetic professionals work together as part of something bigger than ourselves! My membership, from my student days at the University of Texas at Austin to serving as Speaker of the House of Delegates and now Academy Foundation Chair, has provided me with innumerable opportunities for professional growth. I still remember how impressed I was with the nutrition research that was presented at my first FNCE in New Orleans as a student. Later, representing my Maine affiliate, I saw the remarkable member involvement at my first House of Delegates meeting pre-FNCE in Hawaii, and the excitement as we celebrated the Academy’s 100th anniversary in Chicago. Last year, at FNCE 2024 in Minneapolis, we unveiled our new five year strategic plan that supports nutrition research, advocacy and public policy, dietetics practice, and technology. My Academy membership is a vital part of a professional and personal journey I am proud to have travelled. P.S. If you need help with payments, there are plans if you can’t pay all at once, a career starter dues program for transitioning from student to new professional, and group discounts for employers and educators! Check out these options, including talking points for asking your employer to pay for your membership: https://lnkd.in/gSpgVTG8 #eatrightPRO #eatrightAmbassador

My time as the Nominating Committee Chair in the Oncology Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group is coming to an end and I am honored to have served and learned in this executive committee. It is renewal time for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics membership and I want to encourage early career dietitians as well as those who are looking to reignite their passion for nutrition and nutrition policy, to jump in and get involved! I have learned tons and have been able to join in the work of our oncology practice group in creating: 📚Fundamentals Oncology Course for those new to oncology. 📝Contributing to our group’s 5 year strategic plan. 🗳️Governance of the DPGs 2025 election cycle 📋Updating leadership descriptions and creating job aids for our leadership volunteer positions And so much more! I am also a member of other incredible DPGs: 🥑 Dietitians in Integratice and Functional Medicine (DIFM) 🥼 Nutrition Educators of Health Professionals I look forward to learning from these amazing groups and aim to become involved with them this upcoming year as I transition into my new role as Past Nominating Committee Chair- ON DPG. I strongly recommend those who have been on the fence to take a leap this year and become involved in your DPG of interest if you have the opportunity to purchase membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics reposted this
Over the years, I’ve noticed a powerful shift in the field of dietetics and nutrition leadership. More transparent leadership, more meaningful professional conversations, and more career-building connections than ever before. I just renewed my membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and I’m inviting my fellow registered dietitians (RDNs) and nutrition professionals to join me. We’re not perfect AND we’re moving in the right direction. That’s something to celebrate. In our profession, we get to come together not because we have to. It’s because we choose to as leaders in evidence-based nutrition. We get to agree to disagree, to challenge systems that don’t serve us, and to advocate for change in public health nutrition and nutrition policy. We get to take a united stand for a well-nourished nation and a future where credentialed nutrition experts have a seat at every table. To anyone on the fence about renewing, I see you. Maybe you’ve been frustrated. Maybe you’ve felt unheard. I hear you. I invite you to reflect: 🤔 Why did you become a dietitian in the first place? 🤔 What kind of change do you want to see in our profession? If we want better representation, stronger nutrition advocacy, and more support for our careers, we have to build it together. ✅ There is power in numbers. ✅ There is power in unity. ✅ There is real power in showing up, especially when it’s hard. Let’s rise together, challenge respectfully, and lead boldly. Our collective voice as credentialed dietitians is stronger with YOU in it.

I joined the Academy in 2013, partly as a requirement for one of my college courses, but I realized the value it provided, so I’ve been a steady member ever since. Over the years I’ve heard countless colleagues say: “I don’t see the point of being a member” or “the Academy doesn’t do anything for us”. 🚨Let me tell you, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics actively supports registered dietitians (RDNs) and promotes public health through various initiatives. Here are some key efforts: ⸻ 1. Advocacy for National Nutrition Policies The Academy has played a significant role in shaping national nutrition strategies. Their recommendations were incorporated into the White House’s National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, focusing on: • Improving food access and affordability • Integrating nutrition and health • Empowering consumers to make healthy choices • Supporting physical activity for all • Enhancing nutrition and food security research These efforts aim to address health equity and improve the nation’s health outcomes. ✅ Check out: https://lnkd.in/g__B-kef ⸻ 2. Combating Nutrition Misinformation To provide accurate, evidence-based nutrition information, the Academy launched an online hub designed to counteract widespread misinformation. This resource serves both professionals and the public, offering reliable guidance to make informed health decisions. ✅ Check it out at: https://lnkd.in/g-5PHqvF ⸻ 3. Professional Development and Ethical Standards The Academy supports RDNs through: • Accrediting education programs via the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) • Offering continuing professional education opportunities, now many of these are free • Providing resources for career advancement • Upholding a Code of Ethics to ensure integrity and professionalism in practice These initiatives help maintain high standards in the nutrition and dietetics profession. ✅ Check some resources out: https://lnkd.in/gh7HyU2u ⸻ Through these initiatives, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics demonstrates its commitment to supporting nutrition professionals and enhancing public health nationwide. So, yes, the Academy does many things for us, like ALL of us. 🧡 It’s almost the end of May, and I’m renewing my membership. I ask you to consider joining or renewing your Academy membership and join me in creating a stronger and a more YOU-nited profession. 🫵 Together we can make change happen! P.S. Did you know there are different payment options for membership? There are plans if you can’t pay all at once, a career starters dues program for transitioning from student to new professional and group of discounts! ✅ Check out these options, including talking points for asking your employer to pay for your membership: sm.eatright.org/PROmember #dietitians
