18 October, European Days of Conservation-Restoration x ECHOES. Digital technologies are transforming the work of conservator-restorers, from documentation and monitoring to innovative methods of preservation and collaboration. As part of the #ECHOES project, E.C.C.O. European Confederation invites its members and the broader conservation community to share examples of how digital tools and services are shaping their professional practice. This day is an opportunity to exchange experiences, explore fit-for-purpose digital solutions, and reflect on how innovation is redefining conservation-restoration work across Europe. We’re proud to celebrate this initiative together with E.C.C.O., a partner of #ECHOES, funded by the European Commission and UK Research and Innovation (#UKRI). #ECHOES #ECCCH #CulturalHeritageCloud #ConservationRestoration #DigitalHeritage #ECCO #HeritageInnovation #EUfunded #UKRI

Spotlight on TEXTaiLES, weaving innovation into Europe’s textile heritage. From the garments of antiquity to modern craftsmanship, textiles have always reflected culture, identity, and tradition. Yet, digitising these delicate and complex artefacts remains a major challenge due to their soft, intricate, and sensitive nature. That’s where #TEXTaiLES comes in. The project leverages AI, robotics, 3D digitisation, IoT, and Digital Twins to capture and visualise both the visible and hidden characteristics of textile heritage. Its mission: to equip cultural heritage institutions with next-generation tools for documenting, restoring, and preserving textile collections. TEXTaiLES will deliver cutting-edge solutions, from robotic data acquisition and AI-based surface analysis to digital replicas, smart monitoring systems, and training for CH professionals ensuring that Europe’s textile traditions are safeguarded and revitalised for generations to come. As part of #ECHOES and the #CulturalHeritageCloud (#ECCCH), #TEXTaiLES contributes to building a digital ecosystem that connects technology, culture, and creativity. #ECHOES reaches East Asia! The #CulturalHeritageCloud (#ECCCH) and the #ECHOES project were recently presented at two major international events in Asia, drawing strong interest from researchers, institutions, and cultural professionals beyond Europe. At #CIPA2025 in Seoul, Andreas Georgopoulos (National University of Athens) introduced #ECHOES during the opening session, attended by over 600 participants. The presentation sparked engaging discussions around data-driven heritage conservation and global collaboration. At Expo 2025 Osaka, Grazia Tucci (#ICOMOS) shared the vision of the Cultural Heritage Cloud and distributed copies of Archeomatica magazine, reaching nearly 20,000 online readers to date. These moments mark an important step toward expanding international awareness of the Cultural Heritage Cloud, strengthening connections between Europe and the global heritage community.
